    Petty scored a record 28 top 10 hits on the Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart, more than any other act in the chart’s 36-year history. (He logged his top 10s between 1981 and 1999.) The act with the second-most top 10s, Van Halen, has 26. Additionally, Petty notched five top 10 hits as a member of the super group Traveling Wilburys.


    Of Petty’s 28 top 10 hits on the Mainstream Rock airplay chart, 10 hit No. 1. Only three acts in the chart’s 36-year history have more No. 1s: Van Halen (13), Three Days Grace (12) and Shinedown (11)

    I saw Hall & Oates, The Eagles, and Jimmy Buffet at The Tangerine Bowl on July 4th 1977… Still have the ticket stub somewhere.

    One of the few groups I never got to see Hall & Oates. I did get to see Jimmy Buffett though in 1975 at Cal State Long Beach Bluegrass festival.
    Leo Kottke opened the show, followed by Buffett with the headliner of Emmylou Harris and her Hot Band

    One the high points of my life was attending a Ry Cooder show at the Roxy, and getting to say hello, and breathe the same air as this goddess.
    You are sitting at a table near the exit with Ronnie Wood. Pictures never did her justice as beautiful as she was!!
