Best male voice of all time is definitely Don Henley hands down though.

Jim Morrison, Eddie Vedder or Scott Weiland? I loved STP and although Weiland had his issues like the others of course. I think Weiland gets left out a lot and he is amazing.

I've had a crush on this gal for a number of years. Saw her in concert in The ATL. Amazing show.

Jim Morrison... easily. I don't think the other two even belong in the same conversation, personally.

I've seen both Vedder and Weiland live though, and I will say that Vedder (saw him only like two-three years ago) still has the energy on stage that he had in the 90's, whereas Weiland and STP kinda phoned it in when I saw them at Voodoo Fest.

BTW - In terms of the grunge/alt bands of the 90's, no one comes close to Layne Staley's vocals. When I listen to music, I do it sort of removed from the technical point of view... the only thing I know how to play is the bass, and that's just from practice, but from what my ears are telling me, in songs like "Don't Follow," Staley not only has more range but more passion in his the vocals than most grunge stuff -

Earth, Wind, and Fire have been my all time favorite band since grade school and that is one of my favorite songs. He's got good taste in music and I like this jazzy instrumental.

D'Angelo did a great version too.

This song makes me cry, thinking of the time I broke up with my online girlfriend.

chris cornell was pretty much the measuring stick for grunge vocalists, but layne was the man as well, and i like AIC better as a band

I'd agree with that sentiment. Was just saying Layne was very underrated, especially when you juxtapose AIC with Nirvana...

With that said, fuck the current music thread that's up in the OT. I like to give feedback to people's music, and I like people to give feedback to mine. That thread has no discussion going, so let's bring some discussion back.

For the old school posters -

For the grunge era posters, this was a very underrated band from the early 90's -

That was kickass. That's a band that I've heard about for a minute but never had the ambition to check out. Glad you posted that though... what else do they have in that vein?

Good point... how bout some feedback ya'll?

This is a simplistic jam that I've been playing while posting recently. The band's "the XX"... I saw them at Bonnaroo in '08, and I've never really been that into them, but this jam, as simple as it is, is great ambient music. It's akin to something from a Zelda soundtrack or one of those games that people from my generation grew up playing, with the great soundtracks that we'd just listen to for hours on end playing mindless Nintendo video games...
