Love and Happiness was in my set list for years...love that orange crate stomp in the intro..I think Al is playing the acoustic on simply beautiful though..one of the few times he showcased it on record

Yeah. I know that Al Jackson played on Green's first hits but I know that Hodges' brother took over by Love and Happiness and Here I Am (Come And Take Me.) There is that basic snare drum slap on those Hi Records that is absolutely hypnotic. It's as much funk as it is soul. You listen to modern producers and they use triggers or samples to cover up mistakes. It's garbage and the fans deserve better!

Agree..it's the breathing in phrasing and the stretching of beats that you just don't get with a click track or that 120bpm backing track

Was in NYC during fashion week for work. There was a ton of shit going on (besides the fact it's NYC). My co-worker and I got invited to a concert - the headliner of the concert was "Vacationer". Solid band. Solid live performance. Been listening to them since. Positive, but laid-back, considered Nu-Hula, whatever that is. "Trip" and "Paradise Waiting" are good introductions to the band and their vibe.

Sick word play, reminds me of 'Fame' by GZA. 2 of the most creative hip hop songs I've heard.

    That second verse is fire

Pete and CL dropped this shit in '98. I know its just some random coincidence, but its still crazy considering how many NBA references Pete Rock puts in his songs.

Anyways, I recommend listening to it all, cause its dope. But at least check out the hook starting at 1:05
