Probably posted this before but I've been bumping the past week. Some legit philosophy in this one.

I've only listened to this song a handful of times. It's just too damn hard. Funny, it seems more poignant each time I hear it. Alice in Chains was quite simply the most talented but also the most volatile band of their era. I think it's because all their songs are about addiction, or loss or pain. I love that line, "Imitations are pale...." because nobody ever came close to touching how unique Layne Staley was.

Since Chris Cornell's death I have been listening to quite a lot of the old grunge bands music. It is sad to see most of them no longer with us, ugh.

You know Led Zeppelln is probably the greatest band in terms of aheer ability and that includes the Beatles. I hate to admit it but they were.

    Exhibit A.... Viking Funk.

It's funny how sometimes an artist comes out who lays waste to the music scene and makes everybody else up their game. Pantera was like that. A metal band that dressed like a bunch of hardcore fans but put it down like nobody's business. Phil was a screamer "par excellence" and featuring Dime, a guitar player who down picked maybe faster than anybody in music history. My guess is that if you missed Pantera then you missed some of the best concerts of the 90's. They just kept getting heavier and heavier and heavier.....

Portugal, The Man's new album is dropping tomorrow. Stoked for that. Been listening to this song since March, so it will be nice to get to hear the rest of their tracks.

Anyone a 311 fan? I last saw them here in Myrtle Beach in 2003, and will be seeing them again at the same spot (house of blues) on July 30!!! Seen them a couple times in the greater Seattle area back in 2001 & 2002. Such a great, timeless band.

He's a good friend of mine....I used to stay in his house when he was on tour...he played drums sometimes with my band in the early 80s...most genuine musician I've ever met......guy never changed with success....has the greatest record collection I've seen..haven't seen him or his wife Jan in decades...great reminder. He could make music with a bar stool....guy was an inspiration...Pablo Picasso was a favorite of mine

Someone may have already shared this since it came out earlier this year, but Childish Gambino put out one of the better albums I've heard in a long time. He puts out a smooth, funky, psychedelic, and Prince-like effort that no one expected from him. The album is "Awaken, My Love". Here is a track

I know some may have known about this months ago, but some people aren't up on popular culture. Multi-talented guy. Look him up. His name is Donald Glover.

His solo act is an athletic feat....Jonathon is a live wire....I miss those days. Pure songsmith....I always wished I'd got to see him perform with Jerry Harrison and the Modern Lovers...had great long talks with him for several years.

I loved it when he'd sit in on drums with my trio...the dude just had power and dynamics forever
