It seems to me that this is a failure of the FAA.

Elon Musk is no engineer. Therefore Elon Musk should have never been allowed say over any design changes to this, or any, launchpad. Nor any say over the engineers building it. And, if by chance the FAA knew Elon had say over these engineers, the FAA should have known about any design plans that Elon changed.

In my opinion: Allowing anyone who's motive is profit driven first, rather than safety first, to have any oversight on the team building this launchpad... is a failure of our government.

Wait. Why is this a big deal? It's just going to cost money. It's not like anybody got hurt or was in any real danger, right?

Or am I misunderstanding the situation?

My twitter feed has become nothing but right-wing diatribes and ads for shit I would never buy. It's almost completely worthless.

What are you guys seeing on your feed?

I see nothing in my feed. I deleted that shit the day Musk bought it. It was painfully obvious where he was going with it.

It actually got better for me when I stopped following Musk. Now I get notifications like this once a week.

I just blocked all the right wing stuff and it's pretty much gone away. I probably have hundreds blocked by now.

I blocked him right after he bought the company. Best decision ever.

It's being estimated that the spaceX launch, lacking the regulation and oversight of NASA launches, might have wiped out as much as 4% of the population of the federally protected Piping Plovers who's nesting site was within the effected area of the launch blast.

How did he get approval to launch there? You would think they'd have at least checked the blast deflector setup before giving the okay...

who was president between 2017 and 2021, when they started building there? Who was governor of the state they were in? Special dispensation and exception is given to people with extreme power. I’m sure he uses it wisely.

But they don't have to approve the launch just because he built a pad.

He has said if there are too many obstacles he'll move someplace else. Maybe that would be the best option?
