<div class="quote_poster">Quoting THE DREAM:</div><div class="quote_post">Man if the rockets can somehow land D. Anderson or Finley, then I honestly believe that next to S.A. we will be the best team in the west.</div>

I doubt Houstan will be able to land Derek Anderson or Michael Finley, better shot at Anderson, but if they did, I agree with you the Rockets would probably be the 2nd best team in the west, I already think they are the 3rd best (maybe 4th depends on Phnx) behind the Mavs and Spurs, too bad they are all in the same division (cept' the Suns of course).

Good Re-signing for the Rockets, I LOVE Mount Mutumbo!! He's priceless, Mutumbo is a great back up and two years ago I remember he had like 9 blocks when he was with New York, beware the finger never stop wagging. I like Barry a lot too ever since he was with the Kings, he has a good game and has nice 3pt shot, very high energy guy..

I don't think that the Rockets have the ability to use the LLE now as it's already been spent re-upping these two players, if I understand the CBA correctly, that is.

Baxtor for the minimum won't hurt. He might have been great in summer league but from what I saw of him in Toronto as well, he was a serviceable player and was definitely able to hold his own. His post game is very well developed already, although he isn't as quick as most 6-8 players and isn't as athletic. His strength makes him a power forward though. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't just take him with a non-guaranteed contract. If he can play well, we keep him and sign him permanently, if not, we can waive him at no extra cost.

Another thing he's cheap. He's one of those guys that will be humbled by just being on the team. I saw him in Toronto too, and he looked a little raw. But he's played overseas and looks like he has polished his game up. I think he could be used as a back up if somebody goes down, which is very common.

Considering we do something about our mess at the guard position, we can also use Glover. He's 6'5, plays both guard positions, and can get to the hole and create. That alone makes him better than Ward and Moochie, so I think it could benefit us greatly. His size and speed are very attractive qualities the Rockets need at PG.

Trip the LLE is still available for the Rockets. As I've told you before the salary cap restrictions don't apply on resigning your "own" free agents which means eventhough the Rockets are over the salary cap they can still resign their free agents without using the LLE which is only granted to a team every other year.

With Barry's resigning to a 1 year deal, we should also keep in mind that once Mutombo signs his 2 year contract next week, the Rockets will have a total of 15 players on the roster leaving no spot for either Baxter, Van Exel, Glover, Finley?, or any other players the Rockets can sign with their LLE. If the Rockets wants to add any of these players they would have to waive someone either thru the amnesty or a buyout and the other thru a sign and trade.

Thanks for the info again blueracer. I had thought that the MLE and LLE could be used to sign free agents, but also to re-sign your own free agents.

However, with these 15 already full spots, I don't think it'd hurt to invite either Glover or Baxtor to training camp and let them earn their keep. Also, if we're really to sign a guy like Finley or Van Exel, I'm sure we'd buy out either Baker or Norris, or trade them along with a few picks, somewhat like what we did with Glen Rice when we signed Jimmy Jackson.
