That's sweet, Sly. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger. Order on-line with an in-store pickup. What could be easier?! Thanks!
Also the laptop has HDMI so you can still hook it up to your TV. Duck games are just a few months away!
How old is that review? I notice that there are a few different configurations of G780's. The one at Fry's seems to be the latest version because of the i5 chip and the 1 TB hard drive. In some reviews on New Egg and Amazon it seems like an above average laptop. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312431 http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&ke...vptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_8vf89b44n7_b Are you currently using wireless to connect to the internet? If you are and if you have problems either connecting or if you randomly disconnect from the internet then return it.
It's product ID 59359249 as listed in the Fry's ad. The review was from March 25: http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-17-3-I...dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 I still think I'm gonna get it, though.
First of all. thanks, Sly. for the suggestion. I am now posting from my new Lenovo 17" laptop! OK, question: I have backed up my old laptop to an external hard-drive. Do I simply plug that into my new laptop and everything automatically gets installed correctly??
What program did you use to back up everything? Also you really need to be careful. You don't want to restore your old system on top of your new system. That could overwrite your new operating system and it wouldn't have drivers to make the new hardware in your laptop operate correctly. Is there just data, files, pics, music and movies you want to restore or is there some software you also want to restore?
Pretty much just data, files, etc. Was considering just dragging and dropping(?) I would, then, like to use the external for backing up the entire system.
Yes, copy over the files you want to keep. Dragging and dropping will work just fine. After you have gotten the files you want I would reformat your external backup drive and then search for system backup or system image in your windows search box and follow the directions.
If you want to reinstall applications, you need to run the installers for them. Some might have come on CD or DVD. Others you might have downloaded. If you can download newer ones now, I'd do that before installing something old. Data files, like your word documents or your porn collection can be simply copied. Just don't copy the viruses with them.
