I'm just waiting to see how many people it takes to say this is their favorite time of year before MM decides it's his least favorite and starts arguing with those who enjoy it.

Not quite sure I understand your question. I like the draft, I loathe baseball.

I'm speaking about NBA, NFL, and MLB drafts. I was asking why "It's a sad commentary on what the league has become" with regard to this time of year being interesting.

My statement was that the drafts usually are save MLB which is boring to me.

Oh, it's not sad that the draft is interesting. It's sad that the draft is more interesting than the games.

I guess that's where we'll part ways. I don't think watching the draft and this time of year is the most interesting even though this year has been so boring.

My favorite time of the year is when the Blazers are winning. Every other time is "the other time."

Exactly! The off season in the NBA is now WAY more interesting than the regular season, but it's really sad that it's also more interesting than the fucking NBA finals.

The difference is the unpredictability. The 2017 NBA champions were pretty much locked in on July 1, 2016 when Kevin Durant announced he was signing with GSW. Short of him getting injured, there was very little question about which team was winning the finals. The regular season and even the playoffs were just a formality.

I watched ZERO seconds of the NBA finals, but will be glued to my TV watching the draft tonight. I would be regardless of the unwatchability of the finals, but I think it is sad that I didn't even care enough about the finals to watch them this year. That's the first time since 1971 that I skipped watching the NBA finals.

I think it's great that there is so much excitement about the draft and free agency, but not at the expense of the actual games. That's not sustainable. We're already seeing that with the salary cap projections going down do fewer playoff games and lower than expected ratings.
