Actually, that's the only part I feel I can make a strong argument for. Lopez is playing better right now. And, I know I will be bashed here, but Lopez has a low ceiling. He won't get much better than he is. Love had a shitty coach in Wittman who shot every bit of confidence out of him. He's been rebounding like a freak this past month and will eventually get touches (0 plays are ever drawn up in the post for the kid). But yeah, I actually have caught a couple NETS games on league pass.
OK, go be fancy with your super Love. Our Nets fans are satisfied with this 7 feet tall big man who is skilled, good defensive, can post up, can shoot the mid-range, and also a good shot-blocker (2 per game). If you thought that argument made you better, ok, that's fine.
People will not appreciate what VC has done for the Nets until he is gone. Lets be honest every team is hoping that the Nets do not trade VC to the cavs or the Heat Marion to the cavs. One reason hope. Lebron gets any of those players it's likely he will be a Cav forever. We have seen what Lebron can do with an okay cast but imagine what he can do with an all star by his side. People who think oh the Nets will have cap space to draw players here. UMMMMMMMMMM okay what does the Nets have to offer players. A team that is unsure if it's going or staying? Low fan attendance? If you think VC hasn't helped the rise of Devin than you're fooling yourself. Trade VC watch Devin turn from Wade to Marbury. Another high scoring point guard that teams will have an easier time to defend with out Mr Vince "I'll put up 20 or more if you don't watch out" Carter. I think people are dissappointed because they try to associate VC with the likes of Lebron Kobe or Wade. Those players are superstars. VC is not in their class but he is still a valuable asset.
Thats funny, because I watch alot of Nets game aswell as go to them. A Vince Carter trade would only make sense if they truely wanted to make cap room. What you are trying to say is that a trade for VC would make sense because of his ability. Let me tell you, VC has been playing very good this year, and is among top clutch players in the league. So you dont know what you are talking about. Oh, and does Love lead NBA rookies with rebounds and blocks? No, Lopez does.
Completely agree here. I admit, I was never a huge VC fan, and was stunned when they resigned him so quickly, for so much. But I have come to appreciate his character and class...and it just is not that easy to find a 20+ guy who can pass, slash and shoot from anywhere -- ANYWHERE -- on the floor. And make it. He is not the assassin that DWade is, or Kobe or Lebron. This is rarified air where they play. He is in a tier of superstar that makes him valuable to any team...and he's got to get a lot of the credit for the chemistry that is developing on this team. Oh, and one last point: Has anyone noticed in the last two games, the play with Vince at the top of the key...driving and kicking to Devin Harris wide open in the corner for 3? These two guys are a great one-two punch.
How is Vince not in their class when he can score just as much as much as they can and he's just as much important to the nets as those guys are to their teams.
VC doesn't possess the mental toughness or capacity that those guys have. Part of it probably stems from his futility in the post season or lack of having any solid winning seasons (Has he ever been on a team that won over 50 games?). When's the last time VC has had over 35 on a good percentage against an elite team? (IE: Spurs, Lakers, Rockets, Hornets, Celtics etc.). I've come to the realization years ago, that Vince just isn't a big game player (except against the Raptors), even the biggest VC homer can see that.
If you were building a team of people to compete in a HORSE competition than yeah take Love he has that full court shot down to a science
what he said plus look at what those players done in the playoffs. Last year remember the last game in the Spurs vs Lakers series when Kobe went off in the fourth. Lebron against the Pistons in the ECF and Wade in 2006 post season. Those players show they can step it up in the post season and at least get their teams to finals or help win it. Vc has yet to show that an until he does. He is not in the same class of those players
I pretty much agree with NJ and killa accept for the point that he dont score 35 and over against an elite team. I mean its not like Kobe, Wade and Lebron score like that on a consistent basis against them kinda teams either. You doing good if you make it to 25. But lets keep it real, when Vince HAS IT GOING he among the best in the league against ANY team. Dont forget what he did to Bruce Bowen a couple years back where he went off for 45 in 3 qt before getting ejected in the beginning of the 4th because Bowen started playing MAD D(I say MAD D in the sence that he was getting mad that Vince was schoolin him) and pretty much trip him after a shot and vince snap on him. Now how many players can say they did that against one of the best defenders in the game. Not even Lebron nor Wade can say that. Not that sure that Kobe done it before, but hey, we all know Bruce cant stop Kobe. My problem with Vince is when he don't have it going. Like NJ said he dont have the mental toughness to turn it around for himself. If Lebron,Wade or Kobe, and expecial in Kobe case having a bad game, you always have that feeling that they can get off at anytime. They proving it. You don't have that feeling with Vince Carter. When the last time you saw Vince have a bad shooting game and in the 4th out of nowhere started hittin back to back shots rather it be a playoff game or regular season. He just not that kind of a player, he either has going or he don't. At times you can even see it on his face that he knows that he don't have it going. And when he finally do hit a shot instead of having that look OK i bout to get it going. He has that Well i finally hit one look. Not that he's the only one that has a bad game but this seems to happen more with Vince Carter then the other superstars. Why i don't know but it does. Man, if only he could learn how to turn it on how good he could be. He has the talent. Thats the only thing holding him back from being in the same conversation when you talk about Kobe, Lebron and Wade. But to defend Carter as far the playoffs go. To much weight was on his shoulders. Look i know he had some bad games but one man can't do it by himself it just that simple. Besides the last two playoff games he played for the most part the effort has been there. And i don't want to here anything about him having Jason and Jefferson because even with them he still would have to have a almost perfect game for them to have a chance. Jason as good as he is not a great scorer. And Jefferson he 's even more inconsistent then Carter is. The only reason he was scoring the way he was last year was because he was playing along side Carter don't believe me look what he doing now. And as far as playing with the raptors, he took em to the second round had a 50 point game and was one shot away from puting them in the next round. Think he did pretty good. Trust me, if he ever was to get the kind of help Paul Pierce got, he would be a better player cause the pressure not soly on him. Something no team wants to see happen unless they on the recieving in.
