Again, Simmons has been pretty acceptable. After last night, if you average his stats over the past seven games, they've been close to perfect for what the nets need out of him. Now he's up to 17-for-39 (43.5%), which comes to 5.6 shots per game, and 9-for-21 (42.8%) from 3. He also has 17 rebounds over his last two games, and seems to always be the guy chasing the ball out of bounds.

That seems to be pretty acceptable to me from the starting SF.

Hopefully this is the start of some newfound confidence from Yi.

The question is whether Yi can build on this, or if he disappears again. The game against the lakers will be a huge test. I guess he will match up against Pau.

Simmons may be playing well for him but there is no way his stats equal 10 million (avg) for this year and next. If they could package him and another player in a trade - the Nets should jump on it

The NBA isn't really set up for teams to get maximum value out of every contract. Simmons was a matching salary. If he can be that agian, that's great - it's not bad to have one around if you are trying to get a deal done. If not, he provides the Nets value even if he sits on the bench for two years and his contract expires.

He doesn't have to be an All-Star. Just better than what he was when I posted the thread. Last night was a step in that direction. I hope he builds off that.

Yes, I want the young kids to play. I never said Yi's minutes should be cut.

Yes, I want him to show me more. You want him to show you less?

No. I understand that he isn't really ready to be a solid NBA starter yet and I am willing to wait for his experience to catch up to his skills.

But if you are calling for all the young players to get major minutes, it seems strange to complain when they look bad (and even stranger to be negative about it when they do well). They are playing against better players who are know how to make things tough on inexperienced ones.

I'm willing to live and die this season with Lopez, Yi, Anderson, CDR, Boone and Sean Williams getting significant minutes
