Baldwin....Bazz is another Tim Frazier undersized pt guard...Bazz is a good backup most of the time but as people mentioned...Baldwin impressed me with his guarding of Harden...he frustrated the guy...Bazz never really did that but Bazz lead the team in steals....mid season Bazz played great...later heading into the playoff he disappeared
Shabazz may be small but he's a lockdown defender. He's a better defender than Baldwin. That said, I'm choosing Baldwin. Just on size, potential, and size of contract.
I think people forget Bazz had a hurt foot at the end of the season, which really hurt his shooting. I think if he does not hurt his foot, he does not have the slump. I would keep Bazz if we could, but don't think we will.
I see him more like a pesky defender, he is aggressive, and does a good job of getting his hands on the ball, not a bad defender though.
When Baldwin IV learns the Stotts style, he'll be a clone of Connaughton on both defense and offense. Baldwin looks an inch taller. Oh, you want to compare Napier. Napier scored like a star earlier in the season, and has always been a much better playmaker than McCollum (who isn't?), but Stotts didn't appreciate him, so Napier's success was temporary. Olshey (economics, no trade talent) and Stotts (personal dislike apparently) will keep Baldwin IV over Napier. With such a tiny sample set, you guys sure are certain. This season's minutes in regular season and playoffs: 1570 Napier, 99 Baldwin IV, a 16-to-1 ratio.
Yep. Except that, for a month, he was shooting like Lillard or McCollum. And nice dig at Olshey there. Yep. Years ago when Olshey lost Aldridge and signed Aminu/Davis/Plumlee, I posted, he didn't address our main need on offense, a SF. Everyone told me that it would either come soon, or wasn't important because our guards were so good. Right. Stotts played Napier in his 2 games more minutes than Baldwin IV in his 4 games. Edit (worded more clearly): That's not per game. Napier's total minutes in 2 games exceeded Baldwin's total in 4 games. Every GM routinely picks up failed FAs, drafts, and re-signs players he already has. Since that's all Olshey does (never ever trades, not a negotiator/wheeler-dealer), they are considered big achievements around here. Yes, Olshey only makes a move when he is forced by economics. It's called, playing the 1 position instead of the stupid 2 ("Wow, the black hole always shoots without hesitation after receiving the pass! Misses, but what an impressive shooter reputation!") By far our best thief. Gets steals in clusters, like 3 in 2 minutes. Easy to miss. Ridiculous. No comparison. Frazier is on borrowed time. And now for some reason.
Hopefully both. They provide different looks. If Bazz can be retained inexpensively, I hope we do. If he's getting MLE-type offers, then we roll with Wade.
