a lot of the posters on this board are an embarrassment. all we have to do is lose a game and they want to dismantle the team. the fact of the matter is, it is very difficult to win a game in the NHL. the difference in most teams now is so minimal, an entire game can hinge on a deflection or lucky bounce. It takes 16 wins to hoist the Stanley cup, with each game getting more difficult than the last. Lets enjoy this playoff and get behind the team. that is your obligation as a fan. If all you want to do is criticize every player and play during a game, do everybody a favor and stop posting. After the season is over is when you analyse what transpired.
I think people easily forget that there's another team out there competing as well. The Rangers have a shot to win this thing in six games which is exactly where I feel they should be.
2009 never has a good thing to say. I don't understand how you are a long time Ranger fan man. Every post by you is something negative. 28 and 2009 are awesome. Only bad stuff. Cage...leans bad but sometimes you can be positive....
You have a right to be pissed off with Nash, as he just seems to go missing at times, but St. Louis has started to become the difference maker this team has needed for a long time. He might not score every game, but he is getting his line mates more involved and the scoring opportunities are coming from everybody. Win or lose, I'd much rather watch this style of hockey, rather than packing it in trying to block 60 shots a game as they hold on for dear life trying to protect a 1 goal lead. Also, had to say that Nash gets marked HEAVILY whenever he sets foot on the ice (and rightly so), but in the playoffs he needs to fight through it. Sometimes he does, other times it looks as if he doesn't. Only he knows for sure.
Funny that we traded for huge Rick Nash to be that guy. Yet little Martin St. Louis is turning into that guy. Funny stuff.
Nash might be easier to mark. St. Louis passes better, has quick hands and is just plain quicker on skates. I'd like to see Nash use his size and go to the front of the net, intending to camp out in front of Mason. Now that would cause problems for a depleted Flyer defense.
Right, how about he becomes that big body in front of the net. Nash will never do that. Really is a shame since he has the size and skills to be a huge force down there.
Am I mistaken, last year was Nash's first playoff appearance since he's been in the league.....this is year 2.....and yes, he's in the "assist" mode. As a fan, I am looking for the goals. Still, a win is a win. That is all that matters. Thanks, Chuck.....so this is Nash's 3rd playoff appearance.
It's sad, but Nash doesn't need to park himself in front of the net in order to keep his job, and he knows it. In my opinion, he just doesn't enjoy the physical part of the NHL, but to keep his job, he doesn't need to. Jagr, Ovechkin, they either enjoy it, or know that it's a necessary evil for them to find success in this league. Jagr still goes to the front of the net, and if you aren't careful Ovechkin will knock your head off. How often do we see Nash go to the front of the net, or go out of his way to land a big hit? Not to often. His job is secure, and he doesn't have to do that. As a Ranger fan, I really wish he would.
He has enough skill without doing that to score just about 30 goals every season, which is a credit to his god given talent. BUT in the playoffs when the checking gets tighter, and the hitting gets tougher, he needs to be in front more to score. He won't go in and out around 3 guys to score in the playoffs, just too tight. That is when he should park himself in front, but that is not his game. Again, he doesn't have that killer/win at all costs mentality. Not who he is. What that said, he does still have a role. The other team MUST check him with their best. They must know where he is at all times. That clearly opens up space for his line mates, and they take advantage of it, especially when it is MSL. If Kreider does ever come back that will make our lineup that much deeper. Maybe he can get back mid round 2 (if we get there), which would be 6 weeks from surgery.
He could score more than 30 goals a season. Unfortunately he seems to settle for that. You would expect someone with his size, quickness and hand speed would just naturally go to the net, but you can't make them. I'll bet behind closed doors, AV at least mildy questions it. Look at Boyle, the only reason he's still playing in the NHL is because he does what most players won't. If Boyle had a problem going to the net, or into the corners, or just playing physical altogether, he'd be playing minor league hockey or in some after work men's beer league. He knows it, so he does it. You really have to tip your cap to players like Boyle, who do what is asked of them night in, and night out. I just wish Boyle could defend himself when needed ... lol
the flyers suck in this series, next series if rangers get there and play like this in that series they will be swept, book it there mr agree to disagree
Ill give you being marked by the flyers best...but score and be more of a top flight player on the pp. Which he has not been Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
BTW some of these Cally and Dubi and AA threads are funny given where this team is right now in the playoffs but FYI I checked out the Hoopla page where Stealth still posts and he has a whole thread on starting Talbot in game 5 instead of Lundqvist. LMAO I guess things could be crazier here...
wow this topic is nuts, jesus some of you guys on nash's expectations is ridiculous, he has 4 points in 5 games, he has almost scored 2 goals , (including end of game 4 and the disallowed goal in game 5) his line is flying with MSL, and your complaining?? LOL seriously you guys are crazy. do you expect your star played to get a hat trick every game in the playoffs? its different then regular season. look at crosby 5 points in 5 games with minus 3, but nash 4 points almost scored two goals +1 and his line playing really well. instead of blaming nash, you guys should take a look at beloved hank who for some reason never gets questioned about, he has had a terrible season (compared to his standards) and has allowed 3 soft goals in 5 games, which if didnt happend we would probably won series 4-1. but no nobody says anything because he is HANK
oh and malkin 4 points in 5 games 0 plus minus, i guess he sucks too and doesnt have the "killer instinct", i mean thats the dumbest thing to say (no offense chuck, like you a lot your a good dude), you dont think that players want to win and want to score and want to be successful? pretty sure 90 percent of players have "killer instinct", this the NHL where players get paid millions of dollars, everybody wants to do well to get a raise to get more money and win cups. Nobody goes to work and be like meh i could score but ill just half ass this game. sometimes players just take time to adjust in the playoffs, players that come to mind is brendan shannahan where he struggled early in his career in playoffs but when he got to detriot he was a machine, also lucic comes to mind, those seasons in 08-09 in playoffs he was terrible they wanted to trade him, look at him now.... not everybody going to adjust that fast everybody is a different player..... and it could just be that nash doesn't want a concussion and is trying to avoid some contact. im not saying nash can't play better he probably can but if those 2 goals go in he has 2 goals 4 assists in 5 games........ and nobody is calling him out, but the analysts need to give this dude a break already...
