actually, yes you can. there was that program (if you have mozilla) that allows you to ignore posters, regardless of their title, or placement.

If you still have a doubt...in all honesty...the safest thing to do in a situation like this is to disengage...in other words don't converse with him anymore. If you continue it only makes the situation worse...

I have to assume that a poster who uses his real name in a photo like that is harmless. It upset me, and still does to some degree, but I realize he's likely harmless in real life. That said, I don't think he's moderating material.
Well...unless you're certain he's harmless, that sounds more like cowering in fear to me and waiting to die. And far from "safe" to just not react to a potential death threat. Logic says the safest thing to do when threatened is to permanently eliminate the threat with all expedience and might at your disposal. Swat that bee!
That's been my approach. Keep the potential psychokiller engaged, and get some "footprints" to protect yourself. At the very least, the threats toward me have been pulled down, as they should have been.
