A Biedrens IS playing this year,has even had a double-double. Petro shoots up and down mocks as his stats show he is nowhere near effective,but a few short clips have shown some athletic moments. Nobody wants to burn a lottery pick if he's not even an Olowokandi,and few have enough info to KNOW,so everyone fantisizes and hopes. R.McCants is an undersize guard who has been just okay on D. He is not a great enough pure shooter to offset that,and a 2-guard has to really impress,while a 7-0C like Petro can show a nice vertical and a few raw skills and folks start talking lottery. The Deal with imports is people seem to project a best case scenario,meanwhile,few see enough to see the flaws. Nobody makes a highlight tape of dumb passes,airballs,failure to play basic D,etc. Guys who had a polished game-or were getting there,got taken already,and there ain't many fish left in the lake,but some need to believe anyhow. So while Euro league stars don't get an invite to the NBA-bench players are hyped up as lottery-and get compared to top NBA stars.
