I think Faried would excel with an active point guard. He's the guy that will outwork others to get near the basket.

Agreed. But that is also Matthews, Wallace, and then him. It doesn't help out LMA all that much on offense, and really, it puts even more pressure on Miller, as if he is off, it's LMA or nothing. Or, you're asking guys to do something they sdhouldn't necessarily be, creating for themselves, which they aren't that great at. Obviously with a big gap in talent, but it's the same issue we had with Roy and LMA, and then surrounding them with guys like Blake, Outlaw, Webster, Joel, Batum. You double the main play maker(Andre, Roy), and you're left with 3 guys on the court that aren't great at creating for themselves in a half court set. And we get bogged down. We've seen it for the last 4 years or so.
I know it's partly a coaching issue, but it's a fit/talent issue as well. Can't have that many players dependent on one guy to get them shots. It's easier to stop.

Well, I don't think he should be starting, but if he is, preferably Wallace gets moved for a shooter/play maker.

BUT, I don't think you should be looking for playmakers at the 5 (or 4?) anyways, so I can't see how this relates to Faried.

Givony on his most recent podcast was really high on Montiejunas.

He was supposed to be the top pick of this draft, but has dropped because of some stagnation in his development this year. Givony said his effort isn't always there. But if he drops to us, I'd take him over Faried because he's more skilled.

Just for clarification, I'm not even sure if Faried will ever even be a starter in the NBA, but I think he can be an impact player, especially coming off the bench for us, even next year. With out lack of consistent health, we depend a lot on LMA to rebound AND dominate on the offensive end, and I think adding Faried really gives us some depth up front that can take some of that pressure off LMA (if Camby/Oden) are not healthy and LMA is forced to play the 5.

Good point on the PG, as I think that is not only something Faried would benefit from, but LMA as well. I identify that as our biggest need in this draft/offseason is adding a PG, even a project, that is active and create with penetration (and hopefully better shooting than 'Dre).

For me, it's Faried or bust.

I'm going purely off of youtube highlights but I've been saying for weeks that this guy has INSANE offensive skills. So far Kanter, Valanciunas, Biyombo, and Vesely have been seen as easily better by most sources. Donatas seems like a fucking TERRIBLE defender/ rebounder but shit look at that offensive game. Athletic 7 footer with excellent footwork, gorgeous fluidity (Valanciunas on the other hand looks stiff and mechanical), finishes with both hands (Kanter had zero left hand at Nike hoop summit and I have a hard time believing hes become ambidextrous in a year-year and a half), can dribble drive on big guys, shoot out to 3 pt range, score in the post. Even if he becomes Andrea Bargnani that's a good pick considering where most mock's have him projected. If he fills out and rebounds a little better who's to say he doesn't become a Rasheed type of guy (less defense) as far as ability to score from all over the court.

Givoni was on David Locke's radio show today and said that Donatas should be the clear-cut #1 pick but he held himself back by coasting a lot. The 'doesn't love the game' talk surrounding him sounds like it has some substance to it. Though, I'd still trade up for him if we had the chance.

There's no way Faried will fall to #21. I hope Chad & Co. are planning on trading up!

Why do you say this? Besides NY at 17, I don't really think a whole lot of teams have him high on their list, or have bigger/more important needs to deal with.

Faried is a better player/prospect than most of the projected late lotto-mid first round picks. IMO a GM would be a fool to pick Markieff Morris, Tobias Harris, Chris Singleton, Jordan Hamilton over Faried.

A lot of the guys you just listed are apples to Faried's orange. If a GM is looking at the players you mentioned along with Faried for the same role then he's absolutely a fool!

I anticipate this draft will be a lot more about individual team needs, wants, and likes (ie. players they fall in love with) rather than your typical "Player X is clearly more talented than Player Y therefor they get drafted in that order " draft...

Don't be shocked to see some guys get drafted WAY higher than people are expecting - guys like Jeremy Tyler, Nicola Vucevic, Josh Selby, etc.

Called the best shooter in the draft "by far" his range is bordering on amazing/horrific shot selection.

LOL, I've had an eye on this guy, he was 21 for 21 in one of the combine shooting drills and even his athleticism surprised many with some nice combine numbers. However I have no idea how he plays but you have to at least take a look at a shooter like that.

I watched Goudelock against UNC this year. He was lights out. Kinda reminds me of Eddie House.

Agreed. I'm sold on him after watching a whole bunch of videos of him on Youtube. He looks like a Yi clone, but with a 3pt shot and a slightly better post game. I don't understand how we can just pass over this caliber of talent for a guy that goes by on just effort (and only one redeemable skill in rebounding) in Faried. And he wears #11 and is from Lithuania. That historical perspective is just too enticing.

ANNNDD, he'd add to our growing international roster.
