Harris has dropped from 15% body fat to 8% just since the season. He said he's gonna get it even lower. He's actually pretty skilled and deceptively athletic. He will be a SF in the league, and could easily develop a bench role on a good team, I think.

I dont understand the term combo guards, forwards whatever. If you can play, you can play. Josh Smith a 3 or a 4? Shawn Marion a 3 or a 4?

I like Harris because he plays under control and is just always so smooth on the court.

I'm of the opinion that the league has moved from where you can be good with a team of guys 6'3-to-6'10, to one where a few stars (no matter what position) can be great, to one where a stud PG and stud big man can have 3 wings of whatever size and be pretty great.

Which is why I'm much more worried about a CP3/Amare hookup than a Wade/James/Bosh 3-some. And I think that we have 1 big already that's close (LMA) and one that is close when healthy (in Oden) and we need the stud PG. If Matthews, Batum, Wallace, etc can get us that PG, then it's worth doing and then plugging in Fred Jones and Ime Udoka if that's all you can get.

Mike Miller's been trying this out for a few years. Doesn't quite work with white-guy bangs.

I'd love to see POR get another draft pick and pick up Benson. I like him better than any other big man C prospect outside of Kanter who looks like a top 5 pick...

I think a guy moving up the charts and now being mentioned in 1st round mocks is Charles Jenkins....Definitely a PG POR should be considering....

Good pick and roll player, shown ability to go 1v1 and has a mid range J game....all important aspects I think POR needs from a player right now....

Seriously, is there any chance they don't take Isiah Thomas with their second pick if he is available? First of all, he's from Washington and played for Washington, and he plays a position of need, 2 major sources of hard ons for this team.

I'd prefer Vucevic to Benson, personally. Also wouldn't mind a second round flyer on one of Tyler or Dunigan, perhaps.
Have to admit to being more and more intrigued by Marshon brooks. I know we're loaded at the SG right now. Still. I definitely think there will some good players available, especially later, in this draft. Late first rounders that can definitely contribute for teams.
I actually find myself more intrigued by later guys than I do most of the lotto guys, outside of Irving, Knight and Kanter.
Jackson, Morris, Brooks, noguiera, McCamey, Dunigan, Tyler, Shumpert. Really like a lot of the late 1st and seconds. Not all that enamored with Morris twins, early euros, Williams, etc. I like that there are a good amount of late PGs that could easily be available. Similar to the 2009 draft, where were the top early PGs, Curry, Rubio, Flynn, Jennings, and then you had a good group later with Holiday, maynor, Lawson, and Collison.

I keep trying to tell people that even in the craptastically horrible 2000 draft, you still had around 20 decent NBA players. You're not going to get studs in this draft (or, you're going to have to pay a premium for a chance at one to develop from upside guys like Irving and Kanter and Williams), but there's a decent amount of depth of 5-10th man guys on the roster, and some projects (Tyler being one) that could pan out.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

In no particular order, people who could've helped our team this year, or were considered "decent" players:
(Before you pooh-pooh them, may I remind you that for significant portions of the last two seasons we were giving minutes to Juwan Howard, Jeff Pendergraph, Dante Cunningham, and Patty Mills, and that signing Fab Oberto and Earl Barron were looked on as helping the team?)

    K-Mart
    Swift
    Miles
    Miller
    Crawford
    Przybilla
    Hedo
    Magloire
    Mo Pete
    D. Stevenson
    Eddie House
    Najera
    Redd
    Cardinal'
    Jaric
    Des Mason
    Q-Rich
    Etan Thomas

Look like I overestimated, though I'd say that 18 is "around" 20

As I said, though...I'm not going to claim 5 all-stars are coming out of this draft or an MVP candidate or anything...I'm saying that if you're looking to bolster your depth and stockpile some guys who can be 5-10th men on the team (which we are), there are some good choices around.

I guess your definition of the word "decent" and mine differs quite a bit.

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

which player do you think couldn't have beat out 37y/o Juwan Howard or 23 y/o Patty Mills for PT?

I'll rephrase...if all you had to do was spend 3M and pick up 2000-era one of those players for 4 years, who wouldn't you take, b/c we already have a better player in that position?

PG: Jaric's really the only one, but he'd get run before Patty.
Wings: Stacked here, with Redd, Miller, Crawford, Mo Pete, House, Q-Rich, Des Mason, Hedo, Miles, Stevenson
Bigs: Magloire, Przy, K-Mart, Swift, Etan, Cardinal, Najera

DX just updated their mock and now have Portland selecting this guy. His stock is rising steadily since the combine.
