No excuses. Championship teams should be able to win on the road. As far as Im concerned, besides the last 4 minutes, Allen was the only reason the C's won today. Rondo had a triple double and closed the game out, but it was Allen who provided the significant lift that kept the Celtics in the game. If he didnt shoot the lights out in the first half, the Lakers would be up 2-0. PP and KG were non factors as were most of the rest of the C's team.

The Lakers have no reason to hit the panic button. Its just another game. Go out there, feed the ball to the big men and watch what happens. Most of the time its good.

Bynum bringing some truth in his post game interview. Said we played incredibly stupid, that Phil waited too long to put Pau back in the game in the 4th (agreed, this is the Finals, throw MPG out the window--Odom has been horse shit), no shot attempts for Pau in the 4th, and some other little tid bits.

You have to give it to the C's though. They swarmed us on D and it bothered us. Can't wait for game 3.

Paul Pierce would still be able to dominate him. Odom doesn't have the lateral quickness to cover guards on the perimeter.

Aside from that, I'm not sure what you didn't understand about too much lane congestion. Size is good and all, but there is such a thing as too much out on the court at one time, and that's what this lineup would be. There would be too many people in the lane offensively, and we wouldn't have enough outside shooting. Outside of Kobe, there's not a great shooter in that lineup. Artest is ok, but that's it. That lineup would just rely too much on inside scoring and going to the hoop. They could play a 2-3 on us and we wouldn't be able to do anything because we wouldn't have any jump shooters on the court.

    2) Ray Allen wont break the Record for threes again
    3) Odom cannot be worse

The commentators say what they think about the calls/non'calls all the time and this time they said it was a good no-call. I'm not going to tell my opinion cause I'm a laker fan. Officiating was pretty bad on both sides, yes we got more FT attempts and so but Kobe got 2 BULLSHIT fouls and when you have to bring out your superstar in the 4th quarter it has a pretty big impact on your game. Consider Rondo getting bullshit fouls and not being able to close out the game, wouldn't you think the game would have been different?

In the end, Boston played a good game and fought their way through. I am a bit scared because Garnett and Pierce didn't step up and you still got the win, even though Bynum made a great game and Gasol was pretty good too, I know Kobe can't accept his actions but he'll bounce back. I have to give props out to Boston bench, they did a nice job and out-played our bench.

Game 3 is going to be a nail-biter like this one, hopefully with a different outcome. If Lakers go down 2-1 then I'm a bit concerned, at the moment everything's at play.

agh! sucks we lost, but looks like we deserved it. dont see why our squad couldn't have taken advantage of the rest of boston's bad play, despite the great performances by rajon rondo and ray allen. granted kobe was in serious foul trouble which i know is terribly distracting for a player, but he could have played the playmaker a little better.

anyway, on to game 3, hope lakers can silence some of the complete dunce's out there saying that the series is over. i mean even if they were down 2 to 1 there is still a fighting chance to win the series.

    +1

and props to HK for saying Lakers got some calls from refs. (no one else 'really' admitting it but HK) you get +100 for that ;)

Cannot wait for game 3, you know we can sit here and say who wins game 3 will win the title but it won't be that way, both teams can win at each others arena, so I'm sure it'll go 7 games, in which LA would be favored there. If C's are to win they have to do it in 6.

Kevin 'pussy' Garnett has to show up or just fucking retire after this season is over. Seriously. Doesn't he know this might be his last chance at a championship???

I think he is reffering to the missed call at the end of the game that the refs didnt overturn when KG slapped the ball out of bounds.

HK, what kind of game 3 adjustments would you like to see?

I'd like to see a heavy dose of touches for both Bynum and Gasol down low. They're wrecking Boston right now and we're not fully taking advantage of it. Until Garnett, Perkins, Big Baby (the best of the 3 so far) can prove that they can stop them, we should milk them. Bynum's knee has proven to hold up fine so far. If Odom isn't bringing it in game 3, just use him to give rest to both players. If Odom is bringing it, keep him in there to hope he can establish a rhythm.

I'd put Kobe back on Ray Allen. If the purpose of Kobe on Rondo is to give him a break defensively, it sure as hell ain't working. He roams too much off of Rondo and that allowed Rondo to grab boards @ will last night. Kobe also looked indecisive last night on offense. He needs to make up his mind before the game what he wants to do and adjust properly after the first few minutes. Don't come out and try to set your teammates up. Be aggressive offensively and then when the doubles start coming, set your teammates up.

I noticed last night that Bynum was the primary big man coming up to set the high screen for Kobe. I dont know why they don't weren't running Gasol out instead. Bynum is no threat out around the perimeter so theres no consequences for doubling Kobe off the screen. I know Boston has the personel to defend the pick and roll but there are so many options when Kobe and Gasol run it. I think they should try to take advantage of that.

Well, after waking up this morning, I realized a few good things and bad things.

    The Good:
    1. Kobe had a shit game, and we still managed to give the C's a run for their money.
    2. Bynum has been dominant against perkins this series, perhaps we can expect the same.
    3. After another garbage night by KG, it's quite clear he's past it, looks a shadow of former self. Pau has owned this matchup.

    The Bad:
    1. Rondo has awaken, and you can expect the same or worst in boston.
    2. Pierce turns up big at home games.
    3. Expect more bad referring on both sides, but I feel the refs will favor the home team.
    4. Fisher...not a defensive player, rondo and allen will have an easy night. =-(

Re: NBA Finals: Boston Celtics vs. LA Lakers (1-1 tied series)

I couldn't understand this either. Once the Lakers took the 3 point lead in the 4th quarter PJax should've put Gasol back in the game to close it out. Especially with Kobe dealing with 5 fouls which limited how aggressive he could be driving to the basket. Every time he tried to get to the rim Boston had a player waiting to take the charge on him.

The offense was in a funk without Gasol on the court down the stretch. Ron Artest took a few bad shots and Kobe forced up long perimeter shots. Those misses led to Rondo in transition and baskets for Boston.

Ray Allen was unbelievable last night hats off to him. The guy couldn't miss and for some reason the Lakers kept leaving him open unnecessarily to double down low or lost him in transition. Shannon Brown's defense was bone headed when the Lakers tried using him on Allen.

The Lakers had this problem in the Phoenix series not closing out on the shooters. They finally made an adjustment by playing a 'zone' type defense and switching off the shooter moving without the basketball instead of having one guy chase through screens.

Boston beat us last night by pushing the tempo on offense instead of trying to beat us with their halfcourt sets. We can't settle for long jump shots and need to get Artest moving without the ball more instead of having him spot up. 1-10 last night and 1-6 from behind the arc. He also missed 5 free throws.

Re: NBA Finals: Boston Celtics vs. LA Lakers (1-1 tied series)

Lakers were executing screen and roll no matter which big man was involved. The problem is we went away from it when it mattered most down the stretch with Gasol on the bench for no reason.

I agree with you guys the officiating has been a joke for both teams. I want to see the best players on the court deciding this Finals and not a ticky tack free throw shooting contest. Hopefully they don't call it as tight in Boston let these guys battle a bit more.

The officiating has been bad both ways. I wasn't going after every Laker fan before. I just was amazed by the differential. The team that usually shoots way less FTs (check the stats Brian posted) is all of a sudden +21 in a game. Then I see a couple guys blaming the loss on the officials. There were a number of bad calls both ways. A couple of Kobe's fouls, couple of KG's fouls, that Baby block on Bynum, the PP block on Artest... and maybe we did get more calls... Idk... but shooting 21 more FTs until very late in the 4th, I'll take that all day long if I'm a LA fan

Odom really has to step up for Game 3. He's usually good on the road isn't he?

Also, what do you guys think of Artest so far? Worth the trade for Ariza?

You can't blame the officials for the loss. Rondo getting off was the reason the Lakers lost and of course Ray Allen's hot shooting. I just don't like how the ticky tack calls are forcing the key players to the bench. I want to see the main guys out there competing.

Yeah it was a good decision by the Lakers. I wish we could have had both and we probably could have if Ariza's agent didn't lie to him.
