<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "olskoolFunktitude":</div><div class="quote_post"><div class="quote_poster">Quoting "shapecity":</div><div class="quote_post">theoretically the best team wins in a 7 game series. however an injury can change things, lack of preparation, lack of focus, lack of conditioning, there are a lot of variables that can happen to cause an upset. the nets have more experience in the finals than the spurs and they have a huge edge with the time off. the spurs looked very tired to night and they are going to be pushed to the limits in dallas. everyone thought ito, knicks235, and myself were nuts saying the nets would destroy the pistons, and they exceeded everyone's expectations with a sweep. the spurs get rattled very easily in these big games and if the nets can steal the first 2 games, the spurs are going to start doubting their abilities and find themselves in a 3-0 hole.</div>

not really. the spurs were in the finals a few years ago and won. no one on the nets has shown the ability to win in the finals. and they are even more easy to rattle than the spurs as is apparent by their sweep in the finals last year and their subpar second half in the regular season this year. they just havent faced any real challenges in the playoffs yet. theres a reason the spurs are "struggling" theyre playing a pretty incredible dallas team. they wont struggle against the nets. soft minded younger players like kmart and rjef will fold as soon as SA takes the quick 2 nothing seriees lead at home. they might get injured too. san antoinio will. as soon as the spurs take care of their homecourt the nets will give up and get ready for summer ecxept for kidd. even if the series is close the nets will tire of trying to keep up with the superior spurs</div>

I think the Nets will sped up..but I hope that Mavs even have a chance of catching up to the Spurs intensity back in game 2, 3, &4. You never know...like last game! [IMG]

nnets will be speedy for sure but san antonio will be stifling and overpowering. theres a reason they won 13 more games than new jersey in a much tougher division

yea, spurs have been to the finals and WON. that says a lot more than going and losing. i think the spurs are better off if they start a game and are behind by 5 points or so, then they can come back w/ a lead that they won't lose. either way, nets are gonna lose. they can't defend the mavs. spurs are gonna slow the game down and that'll make the nets uncomfortable.

does it really matter tho if the spurs get out to an early lead or not? even if the nets get out to a 15 point lead they wont be able to hold it against a dominant team like the spurs

They likely would as nets don't normally blow leads....

If spurs play like they did in game 5 v nets...nets will blow us out....the way they run on the break and play D..so spurs need to play alot better against the nets...they are tough team..and have more heart than SA it seems

The NETS?? abetter team than DALLAS??? more heart than san antonio? now youre really talking crazy. i mean bonkers. the nets are one of the more mentally fragile teams in the league other thn jason kidd.

where did i say nets are better than dallas? nets play alot better defence...they have good post play..and yes nets have shown to have more heart than the spurs...spurs had the chance to close out game 5..but for not the first time have lost 20+ leads in these playoffs.Nets have a focused team that has gotten alot of experience from a year ago..nets are alot better than you give them credit for...spurs will have to step it up..as nets not only play a run and gun style..but they play great D...and the way the spurs have been playing...beating nets will be no easy task

I dont understand why people are having such a hard time accepting the fact that the spurs are now the best team. people are bending over backwards to overestimate the nets and make them seem better than they are. its an insult to the superpower west teams. last year no one gave the nets a chance against the lakers and righty so. well guess what? the nets are no better than last year and the spurs are better than the lakers. case closed

Nets last year were just happy to make the finals..they didn't think they could win it..this year they believe they can..they have more experience now..and besides game 3 and 4 were really close in last years finals...more experience and they likely could of win some games last year..this year they have that..a very improved martin from a year ago.,.richard jefferson has improved and is now a starter...i don't think they will win it all..but they will compete and be tough to beat

thats all debatable though. kenyon martin and richard jefferson are still not the type of players you want as your top guys if youre competting for a championship and the spurs are still just much much better. look for them to when the series in 5 games or less

Martin and Jefferson are good rising stars..why else would kidd want to stay because of them? he sees a future with them..and i don't blame him. They could help lead nets to a title with kidd.likely not this year but in a few years..they are rising stars..martin seems to be one already...on the spurs they would be 2nd and 3rd options like they are in NJ

kidd only says that to keep the chemistry good and things quiet. Kmart is immature and a clubhouse cancer when things get tough. Rjef and cocky and inconsistant and. on the spurs they would be 4th and 5th options. kidd will change his tune about stayting in new jersey real fast when the nets are swept again in the finals by the spurs or mavs. mark my words

Spurs vs Mavs tonight, I think the Spurs can take it tonight even though they're in the Mavs arena
