I wonder if we try to sign a number of bargain free agents or assume bad contracts with cap space for an asset. We have more cap space than any team in the league.

So from the list of FA's that have already signed, who would have been a difference maker for us?
Pretty much just Greg, and even that is debatable.

    ----------------------------------------------------
Free agents who've agreed to sign with a new team:
    Greg Monroe - MIL age25 $16.7m/yr for 3 years (PO) $50 million
    DeMarre Carroll - TOR age28 $15m/yr for 4 years $60 million
    Tyson Chandler - PHX age32 $13m/yr for 4 years $52 million
    Amir Johnson - BOS age28 $12m/yr for 2 years $24 million
    Monta Ellis - IND age29 $11m/yr for 4 years (PO) $44 million
    Arron Afflalo - NYK age28 $8m/yr for 2 years (PO) $16 million
    Al-Farouq Aminu - POR age24 $7.5m/yr for 4 years $30 million
    Brandan Wright - MEM age27 $6m/yr for 3 years $18 million
    Paul Pierce - LAC age37 $3.5m/yr for 3 years (TO) $10.5 million

Ellis would have been exciting but doubt he would have helped much in the win column. Really the only one we missed out on that we could have used is Monroe and of course that stings.

    Free agents I'd target;

    Sergio Rodriguez - Europe age29
    Marco Belinelli - SAS age29
    Corey Brewer - HOU age29
    Wesley Johnson - LAL age27
    Kosta Koufos - MEM age26
    Kevin Seraphin - WSH age25
    Bismack Biyombo - CHA age22

PG Cory Joseph - SAS age23 (restricted)
PG Pat Beverly - HOU age26 (restricted)
SG KJ McDaniels - HOU age22 (restricted)

Players I'd potentially target for trade if we can't get value back from sign and trades for our own free agents.

    Mario Chalmers - MIA age29 $4.3
    Jeff Green - MEM age28 $9.2
    David Lee - GS age32 $15.5
    Taj Gibson - CHI age30 $8.5/9.0
    Joakim Noah - CHI age30 $13.4
    Roy Hibbert - IND age28 $15.5

I like Lin too... big enough to play SG too. Seems like he kills Blazers when we play him.

But have to trade (who? what?) for a SF... I like Jeff Green, but what about Trevor Ariza... established 'winner' role model vet a good fit?

Who besides Dame is untouchable on our roster right now? Just CJ?

I have zero interest in Lin. He's a terrible defender and we already have Damian. If we spend cap space on a PG it needs to be a player that brings something defensively.

Jeff Green is a SF/PF; don't think we really need that with Aminu. Ariza is good but getting old and we are going younger.

We are good in the frontcourt; Dame and CJ will do the ball handling. We really need some SG/SF wings. They need to provide two of three attributes; defense, shooting or shot creation. All three would be great but thats usually more of an allstar player. Find someone that can be great at two of them and hopefully not a big negative at the third.

Id still like CJ Watson with Gerald Green. And isn't Kofous available? Could get rid of Kaman for a pick or S&T for Kofous.

    Lillard / Watson
    McCollum / Henderson
    Aminu / Green
    Leonard / Davis
    Plumlee / Kofous

    That's a pretty stacked bench

CJ Watson agreed to go to Orlando. Gerald Green and Kofous are useful rotational players but they probably make us tie up cap room from next season. They'll take minutes from younger players and we are a lotto team regardless. Unless they agree to underpaid contracts or just huge one year contracts I'd do something else.

Word is that OKC will match a max offer for Kanter. Not much left. We really need a SF though. Gerald Green?

That line up wouldn't be able to compete for a playoffs seed in the Western conference.

I am also concerned about the point guard situation. Frazier is not what I consider to be the backup to a star point guard. I think we need to look at Lin, or Rivers and also sign Dorell Wright. short contracts would be preferable (two years).
