If Real didn't take Derron he was going to take Mello and I was going to take Derron. I'm happy with Bosh though, can't go wrong with a young big.

I'm having trouble deciding between the two guys at the top of my list. I think they could both be viewed as taking too high, but I think both will go lower than they should've.

OK, I think Ghoti will like the guy I've decided on.

Out of the 12 players taken ahead of Deron Williams, I agree with five, there are two more that I would probably not take over him but I'd have to think hard about it, and five more that I wouldn't even consider.

Probably a bit high this year and a bit low last year.

Haha. Monta is a HUGE reach! But good for you. You want to build a team around him so you took him. It might not work out but you'll have a fun team and you'll like it.

The worst thing you can do is pick a bunch of players you don't like. Look at who is realistic at the spot you have and pick a guy you want on your team. Don't worry about who you "should" pick.

lol, I was actually thinking of skipping him and hoping I could pick him in the second round. But next year people will be asking "How did you get him all the way at 17?"

Bingo! Like I said, I picked Chris Paul last year at the same spot I have this year. People don't know who will be the next big thing.

But doesn't the voting take place before the season starts?

Yes, but the bragging 3 years later is the best part.

Voting is stupid! The same people that didn't like your players and think their crappy players are great are the ones doing the voting!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ghoti @ Jul 27 2008, 05:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Wouldn't any center outside of Jason Collins have trouble guarding D-Ho, Yao and young Shaq?
The point is that people always say things like "SF are a dime a dozen, but you can't get a dominant big man". Well, LeBron is even harder to get than that.</div>

I'm not really that enamored of Lebron. He's lately been a crappy, crappy teammate, and you can claim that would stop happening if he had decent players around him, but that's not something that's known yet. And while, yes, he can play every position, he can't play them all at the same time- so, for instance, the same team with Garnett (or, you know, unnamed forward) at the 4 is arguably better off with him than with Lebron. I'd certainly rather have Yao at center than James. And I think Yao has nearly the same potential to be a franchise player. Neither of them has done much so far. And in terms of wings, there's a plethora of talent out there. I feel like the unnammed wing that I get later on won't be a huge dropoff - at that position - whereas the unnamed center I could have eventually picked up would have been.

But the bottom line is I felt a little squicky about taking James- I'd rather build a team of players I like.
