Just an fyi for people interested in my pick, I have to run out for about an hour, so you can PM now and I'll get back to you then.

I'm trying to win Championships. Good luck building your future dynasty around Shawn Marion or Andre Iguodala.

Can the Blazers win the championship? I think they can.

I think you blew it! I'm surprised because I know how much you like Deron.
    </div>

Yeah. I looooooove Deron. He's easily one of my 5 favorite players. I love Dirk too though. I don't think anyone in the league is as unfairly criticized as Nowitzki is. IMO, only Duncan is better at his position. If I was trying to build a team to contend in the near future and for the next decade, as you are, I definitely would've taken Williams. I'm trying to win now though, and Dirk is a better player to build around for that. I still believe Dirk is a player capable of leading a championship team.

The point of this draft is to build the best possible team. Would you trade the Blazers' roster for the Spurs' roster to win some stupid internet vote?

And, BTW, name any big man available at my pick who is better and more capable of dominating (or for that matter any player that's more capable of dominating) than Greg Oden right now.

(But do it silently, to yourself, because you can't post about undrafted players.)

Damn you ghoti, I was hoping to get Oden in the second round.

And for anyone doubting that pick because Oden has been hurt, please. He will heal and he will be a top center in the league. He's the second coming of David Robinson, and he has a lot more help at his age than David Robinson did in 1989.

The point of this draft is up to interpretation. I would rather have a championship team right now than in 3 or 4 years, even though my window may be short.

    ______ Foyle.

He actually was 7th on my list of available centers. I don't really expect much out of rookies coming off of a year of injury. Especially when guys at his position tend to take longer to be good.

That's a solid comparison IMO. When I saw him play, he very much reminded me of Robinson.

Didn't stop anyone from taking Amare, Brand, McGrady, Roy, Wade, Paul, etc.

That type of thinking is how Chris Paul drops to #23 and everyone goes "Damn! I picked Jason Kidd 15 spots earlier so I could win the voting. What was I doing?"

I remember getting bashed previously because of giving him a loose comparison to David Robinson. [IMG]

He's a more explosive athlete than Robinson, but it's not a terrible comparison.

They might not win the Championship this year, but they could. They're probably more likely to be this year's version of what the Hornets were in 2008 and what the Jazz were in 2007, suprise teams who are really really good now and will be great in the future.

Oden's got Brandon Roy, David Robinson had to wait 8 years to get a perennial All-Star alongside him.

So if you were a GM drafting a team right now you would take seven centers before Greg Oden?

Is the world going to blow up in 2009?

well, my list was really only taking next year into account. In which case, yes I would. He has a good chance of being better than all of them, however, so taking the future into account, I may have still taken a couple ahead of him, just for being the sure thing.

Possibly, though Robinson was a terrific athlete. I don't see Oden ever scoring like Robinson did though.

I can see AI being a corner stone, but you're fucked if you're building around Marion.

You are a GM. Your job is to draft the best team. If you draft a team that's only good by 2007 standards you are going to get fired.
