<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Semmi:</div><div class="quote_post">because individual statistics and flashy play aren't just enough to win MVP award.</div>

Actually it is. While leading your team to a good record is always a must to be a MVP, posintg impressive individual statistics is just as important.

Amare Stoudamire. Best player on the best team in the NBA.

Yeah it`s gotta be one of the Suns players. I`d say Nash. Look at what he`s done to this team. At 31-4, they don`t seem like they`re slowing down. Steve also broke Magics record for I think it was 10 asissts and 10+ points in how many games? Anyway I think LeBron is also way up there. I strongly agree with what some people said about Nash is producing so well because of all the talent around him. But Bron has carried the Cavs to 1st and is playing very well.

Either between Tim Duncan or Steve Nash. No way Amare gets it because Steve Nash is really that team. Without him they don't run. If the Suns can't run they can't win. I'm leaning towards Tim Duncan just because Steve Nash is basically having the same season JKidd had his first year with the Nets and Duncan still got the MVP.

Considering what is going on with the Suns right now, Steve Nash is the MVP. The Suns are struggling to function without him greatly.

I think LBJ and Duncan deserve it the most. Same reason as above for James. Without him the Cavs arent much to look at. With him they could go very far. His numbers are ridiculous, he's drawing in horde's of fans, tons of money for his team. His attitude is also something that deserves recognition since he's been so unselfish and such a team player.
Duncan is the glue on the team. They have a better team than the Cavs if you took the them both off, but the Spurs have a much better record, and i think without Duncan they're 8th seed hopefulls. With him they're probably championship favorites.
Amare's got good numbers, but not great numbers. His rebounds are abit low for a great PF/C. Of course the fact Marion is there takes some boards from him, as well as the fact he's matching up out of position vs real centers that are longer than him. I think i'd pick Amare 5th, behind LBJ, Duncan and Dirk and Nash.
Nash might be a defensive liability, and Amare might be helping him in that catagory with his blocks and general defensive play, but Nash is that teams identity. Without Nash they dont play the same style, the cant play the same style. And without that style they dont win. If the Suns without Amare played the Suns without Nash, while i think the Amare suns would hurt the Nash suns in the halfcourt post game, the Nash Suns would push the ball so well they'd blow the game open early.

Some people that vote Nash or Amare based on how the team is doing this year compared to last need to remember they added Nash and Q. Rich. + Amare is a year older and same goes with Joe Johnson. They should be alot better than they were....but not this good.

Amare isn't an MVP, he's a candidate because he's the leading scorer on one of the league's best teams, but just a candidate. They're better, but he was injured last season, they didn't have a PG last season, they weren't playing to win really after a while, and they didn't have Nash and Q-Rich.

So, no Amare isn't an MVP right now, at most a candidate, before he becomes and MVP, he needs to learn to make others better, that means learn to be a playmaker from the post, continue to improve his defense so he's good, not just average, and become more of a force on the glass.

Its tricky, no one has really stood out so far, but I'd give it to LeBron for lifting the Cavs.

My vote goes to Steve Nash. If you take him away from the Suns which has happend the last 5 games or so the Suns are 0-5. Also during this 5 game losing streak Amare Stoudemire who is also a canidate for MVP is doing bad. The Suns as a team are doing bad without Nash, the last two games the highest scoring offence failed to reach 85 points without him. His numbers are great too, 15 points and 11 assits a game for the best team in the league, I don't know how he can't win it to be honest.

THe MVP award stands for most valuable player and so far it looks like Nash is a lot more valuable to the Suns than Amare is.

    Suns Record
    With Nash: 31-4
    Without NAsh: 0-5

That says something for itself in my opinion.

If the Suns recent struggles is not enough to give Nash the MVP, I don't know what else can convince the writers. Nash is the reason why the Suns had that great record. Ever since he was injured, the Suns have not been the same.

Nash got my vote for sure.

Well it's not too accurate. How would the Suns do without Amare Stoudemire? Untill we see that, then I don't see their record without Nash, being evidence.

Good point but the cavs minus LeBron are much worse than the suns minus nash. I'll take Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion, Q, and Amare over Z, Gooden, Eric Snow, Mcginnis, and Ira Newble (who has started 36 games this year averaging 5.9 ppg) any day of the week. So if you want to say how much they have elevated the team the Cavs without LBJ are worse than the team that won 19 games the year before they got him.
