So the Pelicans should have traded a pick that wasn't expected to be theirs unless the Lakers completely fell apart...

Which at the time of the trade didn't appear to be the better of the two picks.

    Makes sense.

I think teams are letting the Pelicans in because they don't want us to have two picks haha

We could have written it so that we got the better of the two picks.

Why would the Pelicans do that?? They could end up losing a top 4 pick.

It can still be top 4 protected. I'm just saying it could have been written so that we got a first round pick this year and we got to choose between the two.

Posts like this are so funny.
So "It should have been" like this is the way we should have forced them to take CJ. Of course nobody wants to think the the Pels could have just said "NO Fuck you. Live with CJ and his contract and go suck eggs" but i know that doesn't really fit the narrative around here.

It's not just this poster either. Seems like a number of people here feel they know exactly what they should have got and what they would have forced New Orleans to take.

It's called covering your bases if your Cronin. And I'm saying it should've backed up the Pelicans pick instead of the MIL 1st.

And posts like this are fucking hilarious.

New Orleans desperately wanted CJ, the Lakers pick would've been an unlikely condition, and Cronin admitted he left value on the table. But you're sitting here pretending like he got the most value out of the trade even when he admitted he didn't.

"Forced New Orleans to take"? What in the world are you talking about. How about "negotiated better"?

I should have said internally. Sorry...mind you its just a feeling I get and could be way way off. He's survived inside the mothership for 14 years and he mentioned at his introductory conference he tries to stay out of the way.
I got the feeling most in here were glad CJ was traded, just not what we got in return. It seemed to me also that fewer people in here didn't want to tank versus, tank baby tank.
We are going to find out soon enough if he's earned the job.

I'm not saying Joe couldn't have done better. That's because i simply don't know if he could have done better or if he tried to get more?
On the flip side of that is I'm not willing to assume i know exactly what both parties involved were willing and not willing to do in the trade and why.
Sitting here spewing assumptions like i do know would be ridiculous.

See now this post at least is objective and it is reasonable in it's approach.

Portland gets the better of the Pels pick or the Lakers pick, both picks top-4 protected. If neither conveys then the Blazers get the Lakers 2024 pick, top-4 protected

So what do people think the odds are the Clippers win tonight. I'm guessing from reading (just) this page everyone is certain it's the Pels to lose? I still think the Clippers can win this, obviously far from a sure thing, but I still have them at 55/45 or better to beat the Pels just due to experience and home court and also CJ JUST had a hot game, he almost always lays an egg after a hot game.

And now Paul George is out. Say good-bye to the Pelican’s pick, Portland.
