To address a few things. Kobe might get a lot of credit, but he deserves it. If it wasn't for him last year, the Lakers aren't a playoff team. HOWEVER, Phil Jackson gets just as much credit (at least from me) as Kobe gets. If it's not for Phil's genius coaching, the Lakers wouldn't be half the team they are. He gets the most out of his players, and that's apparent when he has people like Smush Parker averaging double figures. As for Nash, despite the fact that they were brilliant last year (and the year before, and this year), he still doesn't deserve all the credit. He still is surrounded with a ton of talent and always has been. He may be a huge factor, but others that deserve credit don't get nearly as much credit as they should. People like Shawn Marion, Boris Diaw, etc. deserve more credit than what they get, and that's just a fact if you ask me. With the point made about Arenas, I find that kind of moot. The thing with Nash is he never really even got attention in Dallas. Ever since he came to Phoenix, he's everywhere. To me, it's like people don't even realize that there are other players on that team it seems. He gets all the attention and all the credit for Phoenix being so good, and that's what drives me insane. As for him being an all time great, if he can keep this torrid pace up, I would have no issue with throwing his name around in the top 10 or so. No matter how good he is though, I don't think he'll ever be a top 5 player. Other players (Kidd, Magic, West, Stockton, Robertson, etc.) did it or have been doing it their entire career. Nash, however, was productive in Dallas, but nothing compared to what would be needed to be a top 5 player, despite how good he's been. As for jealousy of Nash, not so much. I just don't like to consider him the best point guard in the league because I don't think he is. I still think Jason Kidd is better, regardless of team success or statistics. He's putting up Oscar Roberston-esque numbers at 33 years old. He still plays defense (something Nash has never done, but I'm not going to beat the dead horse with that one), and he's still doing a whole lot despite having a team with about half the talent that Nash has in Phoenix. If the Nets were healthy, they'd be doing a whole lot better. But, when you have the injury issues they have (RJ, Krstic), it's hard to keep think going at a high level.
<div class="quote_poster">durvasa Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">His defense is sufficient. His offense is a thing of beauty.</div> Sufficient is a huge overstatement. Nash's defense is invisible at times <div class="quote_poster">durvasa Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It's really simple. If you don't want to get ejected/suspended for somethign like that, just play the game the way it was meant to be played. Don't flail your arms and flop hoping for a foul from the ref.</div> It's not that simple. Just bein honest, certain players get away with things and certain players don't. If Steve Nash had did the same play Kobe did on Ginobli, there wouldn't be a suspension. The league let's certain players get off easier than others. <div class="quote_poster">Moo2K4 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">As for jealousy of Nash, not so much. Let's be realistic, Nash doesn't have any defense and never had it. The reason he's not being singled out is because he has a number of decent shotblockers to help him. The league wants a white superstar to be mentioned in the same breath as Lebron. So their going to exaggerate everything he does. Not to say he isn't playin great right now, because he is. But hall of fame? c'mon man.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rock4life:</div><div class="quote_post">Obligatory exaggeration.</div> I disagree.

But this guy is incredible. For a player his size, to be putting up numbers like that is ridiculous. I know it's a little early to be saying this. But by the time he retires, I think Steve Nash will be the greatest point guard behind Magic. John Stockton was a beast, but to me, Nash is better and more talented. They were smart, and Stockton was a tougher defender. But Nash needs to be considered one of the best pg's ever right now.</div> This is from may 2005, so I guess you could have changed your opinion on Nash, but the last year and half most people would say Nash has continued to put up his best performance.
lol...Rock4Life just got...self-owned? That's quite a surprising change of opinion there, especially when most people say that Nash is even better this year.
