Nobody cares about the MLB. In the NHL, depending on the win, they often skate around. Atleast they do in Red Wings games.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Accord:</div><div class="quote_post">It's not cocky or disrespectful at NHL, NFL, MLB, MLS, NLL, NCCA, and nearly every other sporting event on earth, so why would it be construed as cocky and disrespectful at NBA games?

If celebrating is considered disrespectful to the away team, then so is handing out large yellow tubes to wave behind the baskets and putting "SCREEEEAM" on the jumbotron to screw up their free throws :P.

It's a tradition at NFL games for the coaches to shake hands afterwards, regardless of the result, and this ensures that there are no hard feelings and it emphasizes good sportsmanship.</div>

The way your making it seem like, I do see as cocky and disrespectful, exactly how would you enjoy a win with your fans? In the NFL they don't celebrate, players and coaches shake hands, then head to the locker room, and it's done. It's a tradition for NCAA, so I can see where you do it there. And for MLB, they don't do any celebrating unless it's like a GW homerun where everyone jumps on the field, but that's natural, same goes for GW shots and GW FG's. As far as NHL and MLS, don't watch that, so I won't know what kind of celebrating they do.

It's just showing appreciation and sharing the celebration. This is a real good idea. Good point too. It's just like "giving back to the fans" for the "fans giving to the players."

To all of the people who despise my initial post: Is showing even the smallest bit of appreciation towards the fans who pay hundreds, if not thousands of dollars each year too much to ask? Every other professional sport on the face of the earth shows appreciation to their fans after a win at home, regardless of how crucial it was, why is the NBA the only organization to not do this?

To the person who said this doesn't happen in the MLB or the NHL, that is not true at all. I used to live in Buffalo and had Sabres season tickets and after every regular season home win the bench would immediately clear and all the players would throw their gloves, sticks, etc. up into the air and just celebrate while they played "We Are The Champions", it was awesome.

Ok, that's wrong. NHL players skate out onto the ice and pat their goalie's helmet when they win home games. The three stars of the game also come out and wave to the fans. They only throw their sticks and gloves after they win the Stanley Cup, which the Sabres have never done and won't do in the near future.

Now, back to basketball, if they celebrated that much it would be ridiculous, but I think that it would be nice for them to maybe pick three stars, like they do in hockey, and have them come out and wave.

I completely agree, or choose a game MVP and he just comes out and waves to the fans. I just want some sort of after-game type thing with the players, something, anything!

Please read my post first. Because I stated things in there and you put the same thing as in your post before. Exactly what kind of celebration do you want from the players? I mean, there doesn't seem like their could be any more appreciation than signing an autograph for a fan or giving them a five as you walk to the locker room. The whole team isn't going to stand out in the middle of the court and smile and clap for the win. And what are you talking about, what kind of appreciation does NFL and MLB show after a win at home? I'm a huge fan of both, and it's nothing but shaking hands for the NFL, unless it is some sort of GW FG, and they do that home or away, same for MLB, unless it's a GW homerun or something, but they shake their own teams hands. How is that showing appreciation to the 'fans'?

It doesn't matter what they do on the court to celebrate or show appreciation to the fans, literally ANYTHING is acceptable as long as they don't just immediately rush into the locker room as soon as the clock hits zero and ignore the fans. They don't even wave to the fans when walking to the locker room, even if it was a big win!

In all my years as a Miami Heat season ticket holder, I have never once seen any player sign autographs after a game and I sit right near the Heat bench and where the Heat walk in and out of the locker room. The players will almost never talk to any fans unless there is a famous celebrity sitting in one of the court side seats, and if anything it's going get even tighter and more strict during Heat games after an incident at the Knicks game the other night where this punk kid ran onto the court in the middle of the game and interrupted play.

You're right, going out to center court with pom poms is a little over the top, haha, but I just wish they had some sort of after game activity, like a game MVP coming out onto the court similar to the stars of the game in the NHL. They just skate out for two seconds, wave the crowd, and go back into the locker room... even that is more than sufficient, I just wish they did something!

Mabye it's different in other cities, but here in Miami it's just pathetic.
