Kids have it tough nowadays. They need robots to practice basketball outside, while the kids control them from phones inside.

You latched onto one thing you objected to without fully thinking through the rest of it. The stringent mode would be all the incentive teams need to come to an agreement on which computerized ref setting they want for the game. Did I ever say I want games called that way? No.

    Not seeing your point.

There are bad refs at all levels. He is one who has made it to the highest level. Again, What is your point?

No you latched onto the wrong idea. I was simply talking about calling the game by the letter of the law. No game is called that way.
Where in my post did you see me say anything about computers doing the work? Didn't you see the part I bolded in your post?
You said calling the game by the letter of the law would be the "default" way if teams couldn't agree. I was simply saying that should never
be the default way of calling a game and has never been the default way.

Good lord, some people will wiggle out of anything. I don't think even you know what you're talking about at this point.

We'd see more of HCP if they put a camera on the concession stand.

Has any other sport/league diverged so far from the rules as the NBA? The rule of verticality still exists right? Why are games not called to reflect this? The NFL has made a lot of rules that give the offensive team an edge. But they're still calling the game by the rules. The NBA has clearly mandated certain ways of calling the games to favor the offense, veterans, star teams, etc. but it seems like they don't actually change the rules much. Makes for a brilliant system where refs can do whatever the fugg they want and people just accept it because thats just how it is.

IMO the way the games are officiated are a much bigger problem than the rules. We see all the BS flopping because refs reward it. You're better off flopping than making an attempt to play honest defense. Guys can play perfect defense according to the rules, but refs call the contact to favor the offense unless the defender got ran over.
