Patton is better than Biggie but with a full roster he’s probably not the type of guy they would make room for. Signing him in the summer wouldn’t be a bad idea though. Same with Rabb.
4 days left....and Dame's 'out-of-body' experience has changed the tone for the team. So now what? Do they still try to make some type of deal or just hope that Nurk/Collins/Skal can come back and eventually support what is transpiring for the moment? It seems unlikely that they move Whiteside or Ariza so maybe the next option is the Buy-Out market. Who might be available there that could give a Kanter-like boost?
Yeh, I think if we trade Whiteside now we need a good backup center coming back and a good rotation player. I'm thinking a third guard with really strong defense and PG skills, like Schroder or Holiday.
Any of the three could be great pickups for the right price. I still think the team needs a little more of that edge, swagger and nastiness the best teams seem to have. I think either of the Morris twins would help in that regard - RoCo too.
Mentioned in the other thread. Bertans for our pick. Absorb with our tpe. Waive Mario or Caleb. That should do it. I know, it is a totally shortsighted move but Dame is too good to sit at home in May/June
I think Olshey will stand Pat he usually make one trade before the all star game and he already made it.
Whiteside is all the talk, but using Mario/Biggie/TPEs to save someone buried somewhere else/upgrade the rotation should be a no brainer. Ballhandlers and bigs in particular. I don’t think we’re as desperate for wings as we were a month ago. Ariza has been a great addition while Trent and Little are developing at a solid pace. Not saying I wouldn’t take another one, but the other two positions are more urgent imo.
That's gonna be a tough sell. Getting rid of two negative assets and hoping to get a positive asset back. Would take more than our first rounder I think.
Here is some guy's take on chance for Covington: "I think they only move him if they finally align a Russell trade and need some more assets and/or outgoing money. Probably only happens in a 3-team deal, and those are pretty rare. So gut is no move for Covington." "In an asset vacuum, I think Simons plus Portland’s pick this summer is plenty of value. It’s just—is that the type of value the Wolves can use?" https://www.blazersedge.com/2020/2/...trail-blazers-timberwolves-minnesota-portland
So for the postseason we have Bertans, Nurkic, Whiteside, Collins, Melo, and Skal as guys who can only play the 4 & 5?
It sounds cold to say, but I think Kobe's death threw a wrench into the trade deadline. I know these guys are pros, but for half a week, the whole league just went numb.
