And we should add Sly to the small list of people who figured out how to get paid for this!

And Isaac Ropp. They were on the radio together on Saturday afternoons and recorded not one but EIGHT songs, as Ropp and the Mopp, about why the Blazers should draft Morrison.

Draft the Stache song - Stachetallica
As if seven songs weren't enough...just days before the NBA Draft, Ropp & the Mopp releases the eighth single in the Draft the Stache campaign. This one for you butt rockers.

Draft the Stache song - I like him, I love him
So as not to discrimate, the seventh Draft the Stache single from R&M is a remake of a Tim McGraw hit for the country-lovin' buddies.

Draft the Stache song - Colors
The Draft the Stache campaign is blowing up and R&M Productions releases yet another jingle to accentuate their plea for the Blazers to draft Gonzaga's Adam Morrision. This one for you rap fans.

Draft the Stache song - Draft That Stache
If you've seen the movie "Hustle and Flow," you're familiar with 'whoop that trick.' Based on that, R&M thought it wise to add a Draft the Stache single. Yet another stache rap favorite.

Draft the Stache song - Fame
In an attempt to build a movement that eventually forces the Blazers to draft Adam Morrison, R&M are proud to bring you single #2 in the Draft the Stache campaign.

Draft the Stache song - Ice Ice Baby
R&M's Draft the Stache singles are souring up the charts. Written by Gavin Dawson, this Vanilla Ice version may just be the best yet. Hey, Blazers...DRAFT THE STACHE!

Draft the Stache song - Monster Stache
R&M's Draft the Stache campaign rolls on with single #5. A remake of the classic Beach Boys hit "Monster Mash." If the Blazers don't get the idea by now...we may be out of luck. Enjoy!

Draft the Stache song - Shaft
Ropp & the Mopp have revealed a massive "Draft the Stache" campaign begging the Blazers to select Gonzaga star Adam Morrison in the upcoming NBA Draft. Yet another solid gold hit from R&M Productions.

P.S. Monster Mash was NOT a hit Beach Boys song!

They weren't the only ones that liked the 'Stache. He was drafted 3rd overall by people that get paid to make player evaluations.

Radio guys aren't paid to be knowledgeable. They're paid to be entertaining. That's why guys like Colin Cowherd spend so much time talking about non-sports related shit.

From my experience, radio guys were barely better than an average fan in the pecking order of sports journalists. They showed up late to games, they looked like slobs, and they rarely asked good questions. They're there because they're part of the media, but they're on a much lower tier than a beat writer. The obvious exception are guys that crossover and do radio/print/TV, etc, but overall I was never impressed the radio jocks.

Ropp is neither. That's why he lost his job on Talkin' Ball.

    So?

I was so glad when we didn't draft Morrison. All the way home on my evening commute, I was giddy that we got both Aldridge and Roy, the best big man and best guard in that draft and all they could talk about on the radio was how badly the Blazers screwed up that draft by not taking Morrison, that with six draft day trades they clearly had no idea what they were doing. Right...

The very next day, I changed my username from TraderBoob to Boob-No-More and gave that draft an A+ in my draft day grade.

    So?

I was making the point that it's probably not entirely fair to bust Ropp's balls for being in the draft the stache camp. He was not alone. And yeah, that was a great day, I will agree. I'm pretty sure I remember Stephen A Smith having a freezing cold take about our moves that day.

All I said was I stopped listening to his show on a regular basis after that. Not sure that's busting his balls, but I just don't find the guy entertaining or knowledgeable, especially when it comes to NBA basketball, which is my number 1 sports passion. At least not enough to devote any of my time to listening to his show.

I will admit. I have never really listened to much sports radio until the last few years. Ive asked several times on here in the past if anyone knows any other stations that are better.

I do find them entertaining, however maybe I have never been exposed to true quality sports radio? I mean Mike and Mike from ESPN are the shit, but they stop at 6AM and im not sure if they know the Blazers are an NBA team.

So I must admit, I listen by default. I find myself chuckling at least once a day on the way home though.

I just wish I could find a channel that talks as much Blazers as they do College ball.... so tired of hearing about college football when its the offseason....

    Ropp. lol.

And, Suke... he does have a Z in his name I do believe, but his last name starts with an S. Szucanek (?) is I believe how you spell it... that's completely off of memory of seeing it spelled once or twice.

Mike and Mike are literally the worst. I use them if I need to get some sleep.

You only have upwards to go, so I guess that's good.

I only get about a half hour of them(last half hour) on the way in to work, but 15 plus years ago, I used to run a graveyard delivery route and they were the only thing on radio. Back then they rocked.
When I say tjhey are the shit I dont mean their knowledge or entertainment. Just simply professionalism and tone of voice for radio and flow. They have the best flow Ive heard.

I find Ropp to be incredibly entertaining. But, I also want my sports to not be "sporty"... veer away from the norm, talk shit and have fun. Him and Suke are the best at it.

I also don't take sports super seriously, so that helps.
