I will give Olshey one thing. He's smart enough after having gone around the league and talked to the agents and GM's to know there wasn't a move available. Says a lot about the situation too.

You know, last summer you were going on and on about how bad it was that the Blazers didn't pick up an experienced big man to fill the backup spot. So this year they do and you're still singing the same old song. Hard to take your comments seriously.

Blake and Kaman are very solid stop-gaps.

However, "opportunistic and creative" he was not IMO.

Trading for Lopez was the best move in the entire NBA last season. Check out how much better Aldridge played with Lopez. Also, we improved our record by 21 wins. Olshey has done a great job.

A little over 12 hours of panic left until everyone sees barton CJ and Trob smash Las Vegas and realizes we are fine,

Seeing TRob or Freeland with Kaman is going to be interesting. We finally have enough big guys to match up with Memphis

It would be awesome if he ran away with it. Like literally takes the trophy, runs off court, and never looks back/returns to summer league...On to the big league.

Isn't there like 23 teams in Vegas? None of the Blazers have a chance to win the MVP. None of them will get enough shots to stand out.

What is his ulterior motive in announcing he's taking the summer off? I think it's to sit in his office and watch his rerun season of "All My Children."

    http://www.nba.com/news/2014-draft-trade-tracker/index.html

In 2013, Olshey said he wanted to accumulate 2nd-rounders as trade fodder. He did and then in about a week, traded all our 2nd-round picks before 2019. Here are the 2014 2nd-round picks bought with cash, while our $3 million annual Paul Allen advantage went unused. Brooklyn bought THREE picks. Olshey should have bought 3 picks, then traded each for a future #2, as Pritchard used to do. When our money situation is better in the future, those throw-ins can grease the wheels, as they did in his trades a year ago.

    Los Angeles Lakers get:
    > No. 46 pick Jordan Clarkson

    Washington Wizards get:
    > Cash considerations
    -------
    Oklahoma City Thunder get:
    > No. 55 pick Semaj Christon

    Charlotte Hornets get:
    > Cash considerations
    -------
    New York Knicks get:
    > No. 57 pick Louis Labeyrie

    Indiana Pacers get:
    > Cash considerations
    -------
    Brooklyn Nets get:
    > No. 44 pick Markel Brown (from Wolves)
    > No. 59 pick Xavier Thames (from Raptors)
    > No. 60 pick Cory Jefferson (from Sixers)

    Minnesota Timberwolves get:
    > Cash considerations (from Nets)

    Toronto Raptors get:
    > Cash considerations (from Nets)

    Philadelphia 76ers get:
    > Cash considerations (from Nets)

Doesn't Olshey know of Blake's history with Stotts???

Only 4 months before Olshey hired Stotts here, Blake fought Jason Terry, causing Matt Barnes to knock Stotts to the floor!!!

Blake should NEVER be allowed within 500 feet of Stotts or a school!!!!

Its been a meh summer if you expected big moves but with all the rediculous contracts being thrown around its great to get an upgrade at position of need without breaking the bank.
There are people in this thread acting like teams were dying to trade with us or players were dying to sign below their market value. That just wasnt the case. Olshey has proven that what he does doesnt get leaked to the media so the lack or rumors does not mean Olshey was/is sitting on his thumbs.

I fear for the safety of our coach, locked in with that Madman of the Locker Room.

I think it's a bit myopic of Neil.

IMO for this team to take the next step they have to get another player that can create his own shot. I'm that regard, Nic and Wes are very similar. Neither can put the ball on the floor that well.

This was the reason why I wanted Neil to consolidate some of the talent for Greg Monroe. The three main scoring options complement each other so well with LMA at the high-post - Monroe down low with Damian on the perimeter.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
IMO, for this team to take the next step, they have to play some defense. Monroe makes them worse on that end, not better.

Not that Kaman and Blake make them significantly better, but they're not starters anyway. The team had to upgrade the bench one way or the other. That wasn't so much a "next step" move as a safe layup until he finds an actual opportunity to bring in a game-changer, which is awfully tough when you're capped out and drafting low.

His motive in making such an announcement is to signal to whoever he is negotiating with that he's content to pass on their crappy offer and stand pat.
