The anonymous sources in my head are telling me it's a three way deal: Memphis gets Collins Denver gets Swift, Magloire, and Armstrong Nets get Kenyon Martin

Chris Wallace isn't focus on dumping contracts for expirings. He bought out Mighty Mouse instead of moving him for an expiring deal. I'm not buying that the reporter was wrong. Memphis is in a youth movement and needs some quality guys in their locker room.

Someone who has been out of the first round? Who would you want considering that deficit, Magloire or Collins? Iavaroni is fed up with Swift, joining a long list of those who have fallen in and out of love with Swift's athleticism. And by the way, Mags straight up for Swift doesn't work. Collins does. The Nets would also save about $300,000 on the deal (cant hurt when making complicated deals) and with Swift having a player option in July, buying him out might be easier than buying out Collins. I suspect that if they are haggling at this point, it's either about money (to Memphis) or a pick (second round to Memphis) or the Grizz are looking for an alternative. Swift will be traded, the question is for who and how much and when. I don't have much of an issue with this trade...as a trade. It seems like a wash between mirror image players. The question is will Swift be happy in a front court with Krstic, Boone and Sean Williams? Will Sean Williams get as much playing time now? Don't they have the same skills?

I will be shocked if Wallace actually turned town Magloire and asked for Collins instead.
I'm pretty excited about all of this. I think Swift is awesome and is jus what the Nets need--a strong presence both in the locker room and the defensive end. He's already had a double-double this year and had FOUR last year! Sometimes he gets an assist AND a steal in the same game! He's also a MUCH better free throw shooter than Collins--he's over 60% this year! Not to mention he's much better looking. Why wouldn't you make this deal?

No-one wants him, so to get expiring contracts Memphis will probably need to give up a pick. The salaries have to be within 15%, so regardless of the deal they can't really save more than 500,000 this year. If there's nothing coming in and he's not producing, might as well swap him for a + locker room guy who'll get you similar stats.

ESPNnews just reported that Stro has in fact been traded for Collins. It did not say that he will be traded for Collins. I guess the trade is official. I won't celebrate until I see Collins in a Griz uni. Side note.....Fred Hickman on ESPNnews is sporting a giant hoop earring in one ear. He looks like a giant homo. A far stretch from his days on YES when he looked like a fat math teacher.

They did have a little highlight of Stro and said he was traded to Nets, but I guess they know just as much as we do at this point.
