I'm just happy that we'll be seeing Sean Williams eventually. It sounds like he's too athletic to not get a few minutes here or there.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if Malik Allen ended up being a big contributor for us this year. It sounds like we've really got some depth, 1 to 14 on the roster if we can find a way to keep Hite. And we may finally, finally, FINALLY solve the Jason Kidd Minute Reduction puzzle that's so confounded us for so long.

I bet Kidd's per-minute statistics go through the roof if we can limit him to 32 mpg.

I'm feeling Boki off the bench rather than starting. I wouldn't trust him against Kendrick Perkins, much less Kevin Garnett. We all know Krstic will be starting eventually, and I think Magloire, Boone, Boki and Marcus could be the core of a really, really good running second team.

Wow, I love this thread, it's getting VERY interesting.

Firstly--thanks for the in-depth analyzing, those 4 players excelling really sounds good...and I really hope we can get Allen AND Hite on this team too.

Although I've been iffy about Allen, I liked him a couple years ago in Miami, but seeing that it seems he wasn't that great in Chi sorta turned me off. I hope he can produce for this team, like you said...and that Hite could be that guy "replacing" House off the bench. I'd much rather have him over an old, unproven (in terms of healthiness and whether or not he could last a whole season) Houston.

And about starting Boki...I'd be against it. Even if Krstic takes it slow and comes off the bench, I'd rather have a unit in that's strong in defense, with at least one big who has some type of offensive skill down low--whether it's posting up, making a close shot, or just hitting a layup/dunking the ball.

With Gerald Wallace and Shawn Marion, though, the two forwards are pretty strong in defense - they're pretty good at defending their man, really good at rebounding, and great at blocking shots and stealing. Boki doesn't really possess any of those skills...and that's a big reason I wouldn't want him starting, when comparing him to those guys.

And to go along with what FOMW was saying, the running game you'd want with Boki wouldn't come with a starting unit consisting of Collins and Boki at the 5 and 4. Neither are good rebounders, shot blockers, or stealers, and Boki isn't a great defender, so it'd be a bit tougher to get the fastbreak going with him at the 4 as opposed to, for example, Magloire, who can rebound and block shots, Josh Boone, who can rebound pretty well and maybe get some blocks, or Allen, who can rebound and block shots, when given some good playing time.

Although it's highly unlikely, in at least one preseason game, I'd like to see Williams start a game, just to see how he'd do along side Kidd, RJ, VC, and Collins. His rebounding, shotblocking, and athleticism could prove to be good in the fastbreak game alongside Kidd and RJ...I'm not sure if he could come in and produce so quickly, but who knows.

Is Boki soft at 4? That's the question for whether he should start at 4.

Boki looked GREAT yesterday on both ends.

I too was impressed with Allen and I think his signing may be more important than Jamall's
    .
Wish we saw more Swat Williams in action, but you can tell he has potentional and may get to prove himself earlier in the season than many expect. At least, I hope so.

Boone, for the most part, looked really good, especially coming from a recovering surgery.

Nenad still needs time, but there's no need to rush. Even if he's not 100% on Halloween, I'm fine with that.

DA, like Allen, could be the other key signing this off season. This guy's energy is AMAZING. 39 years old and he's still running around like he's 29. Hit some nice shots, ran the floor, and is a true leader on the court. In my eyes, the perfect backup for Kidd. The combination of Kidd, DA, and Williams is truly a great lineup.

The ball hitting Illic in the head. *sigh* . Him getting instructed more than other players. I'm sorry, but...just get rid of him. please.

Wright looked like he was trying hard, and if he doesn't get discouraged easily, looks like he can step it up a step or two.

RJ looked great. My estimation is that he'll definitly have a better season this year than the past few.

Hite is a better "gamble" than Houston.

sorry for alot of one liners, a bit busy, but those are my quick impressions. a week from today, first pre-season home game, let's do it!!

1st of all, I'm so ecstatic about the DA signing. It's amazing how he brings all that energy, and does all that stuff. I can't wait to see him during the season, and I hope he keeps it up.

And I'm surprised to see someone agrees with me on Hite/Houston. Hite has shown he's a good shooter (or at least he hasn't shown me otherwise yet). It's not like he's completely unreliable. To me, he seems like he could turn out to be like Eddie House, which ain't bad.

Plus, I'm not too optimistic about Houston's health, and how his body would hold up the whole season.

besides, why is everyone so fixated on matching up with the opposition? We should make THEM try to match up with US. If we play Boki at the 4, it will FORCE them to go small as well, or we'd run them off the court. If the opposition has some big bruising powerhouse PF that is the centerpiece of their offense, let Collins guard him, and start Boone or Allen alongside.

Hahaha, nice, the Warriors do it. I think it gives the opposition something to prepare for, look at, even if you don't go to all games. IT's just something to use. I mean we have the best fast break PG in the game, why not give us another added advantage. Defensive rules now are laxed to the point where you can play a soft zone. Collins will defend their best offensive post player and Boki will guard the other.
