Are you suggesting he doesn't know the offensive plays or the defensive plays? Hard to believe Frank would start a player who doesn't know the plays. Maybe he just doesn't like any kind of contact.
I think he knows the plays, but once the play doesn't work and an impromptu offense is activated, he doesn't know how to play basic basketball. The only way for Yi to score is to run a specific play that works perfectly for an open shot for Yi. Otherwise, he just doesn't know how to get open if the offence fails in any way.
"Knowing the plays" isn't just a binary, on/off thing. Some players know and understand plays and defensive sets better than others. Part of the reason Jason Collins was so beloved by Frank was that he not only understood the defensive sets in a an intuitive manner, he was also an extrememly effective defensive quarterback out on the court. Not every player has that, and some are better at it than others. I wouldn't be surprised if Yi's lack of experience speaking English has made it really hard for him to become comfortable in these defensive and offensive rebounding sets.
Is it just me, or has O'Brien figured out something about penetrating our defense on the baseline? Or is that just something the Pacers do a lot of?
At least Yi finally hit some jumpshots. But it's troubling the Nets are only up 3 with Carter and Harris playing good ball and the Pacers struggling with injuries.
I don't get Frank. Harris goes to bench for a rest and Carter is on the floor. So run the offense through Carter while he is on the floor!
I don't want a close game at the end with the Pacers. They have won a few games on last second scores.
... carter did not get any touches for the last 2 plays... why cant they run the offense through carter... HARRIS YOU ARE NOT GOD!
