...I do ALL the cooking at my house, except for sweets and this year I cooked the the biggest turkey I've ever cooked. (24 pounder)(22 without the giblets) ...injected it with creole butter, then salt and pepper it, and cooked it at 475 degrees for one hour to brown the skin...then turned the oven all the way down to 170 degrees and slow cooked it for one hour per pound. (22 hours)...try it, it's incredibly tender and juicy...and yes, 170 degrees WILL cook it all the way through.
Wow, now that is one BIG Turkey. How many guests are you expecting 59? Has anyone here had a Cajun Deep Fried Turkey? (just curious). On this day of giving thanks, I am thankful for the good friends on this board. Some I've known for 10 yrs plus, others, its always good to see new posters. Here's a tip of the glass, to expanding our base of Posters for 016.......
...Matts, my wife has a rather extended family...we actually took a head count...counting the 2 of us there were 46 people here. ...we supplied the turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, and a pie...Dreamboat Annie's Brother brought a spiral sliced ham...all the other grown ups brought a side dish or desert or plates or tea or ice, etc....shot some hoops, threw the football...played "corn hole"...(lol, not what you're thinking)...this one) ...we had an absolute blast...said it before and I'll say it again, nothing is more important than family.
...^^^ Wow, that's a good sized party of folks, and a good time was had by all...! I think I'd enjoy this game "Cornhole" more than Horseshoes....! Ain't nothing like Southern Hospitality....!!!
Thanks.........All I know in my opinion a man cooking in the kitchen is very sexy, On that note I will make you a crunchy cheetos topped Mac & Cheese. lol
...Hey, now there's a good idea for a promising recipe ! ...and maybe also add some applewood smoked bacon pieces on top?
...speaking of new ways to cook a turkey, try a page out of a pissed off Debra's recipe book...hilarious.
The Bengals fans needed a distraction from their playoff fails every year. Unfortunately for my team we have turned to abnormal alcoholic consumption and the marching band struting into M & T.
Here you go, Ingredients: 1 Quart milk 2 lbs American cheese salt water 4 cups pasta 1 large bag Crunchy Cheetos In a large pot over medium heat add milk bring to simmer, add cubed cheese stirring until cheese is melted. Boil pasta in separate pot w/salt & water cook until al dente. Preheat oven to 400, drain pasta and put back in pot, add cheese sauce. Put in casserole dish - smash cheetos and sprinkle evenly, bake at 400 until golden brown-let rest 5 minutes. Optional- Add ham, BACON, and or tomatoes.
...lmao...Lil, I thought you were kidding, but hell, I'm gonna give it a try...smashed cheetos?...why not? ...fwiw, it's nice to know that there are others who know what "al dente" is...most people over cook their pasta. ...speaking of crushed cheetos, it kinda reminds me of a very simple and quip chicken recipe called "Garlic-Chip Chicken"...you basically take a bag of potato chips, open the bag to let the air out and then mash the hell out of the chips...coat your chicken with garlic butter and place inside the bag of crumbled chips and use as a shaker bag...put the now chip encrusted chicken on a foil lined baking tray and cook at 375 for one hour...good stuff. (I usually turn the broiler on for the last 5 minutes to brown the tops of the chicken/chips....of course you can make variations by using bar-b-q chips, ranch, or whatever suits you.
I would never joke around about Cheetos..... lol That recipe sounds good too. I might try it one of these days.
Matts... As they say "Its a sad state of affairs". We are operating on a hope and a prayer. Lets see if Schawb keeps up the tradition of losing by 3 or less.
damn this sounds good 59, and your right, "al dente" s/b a mandatory term for anyone (trying) to cook Pasta proper. I've long been surprised at L.A.'s lack of great Italian eateries, without paying exorbitant, un-justified prices,...
