I'm told it's easy to rush the guy and disarm him.

Yep. Just ask the guys who rushed the neo-Nazi on the MAX last year. Took him out with no problem, right?

Bud, of course a gun is more of a threat than a knife, but that was not what you were talking about. And all the verbiage you supplied about trained fighters has no bearing on the conversation, that is why I made a point of stating that I would avoid that question.

This I will allow, the first thing I was taught is that your first mistake in facing someone with a knife, is being dumb enough to put your self in that position. Someone is going to be hurt or killed.

This is why I went with standard law enforcement rules of engagement. There is zero delineation or variance of response based upon personally perceived threat. The Reason for that is that level of competence can not be judged ahead of a conflict. To do so would place your self in more danger.

I'm no master but I do understand self defense...and some martial arts...contrary to what Dalincoln said...I'd rather face a hand to hand combat than a spray of bullets anyday. My wife also took self defense courses on my recommendation.....guys I went to school with fought all the time....hand to hand...my son never had to experience that in school

So you think if you were slashing throats, people would come at you one by one continuously.
Someone has been watching too much wwe/hollywood movies.

    I never said a knife wasn't dangerous.
I simply said it would be DAMN HARD to not have kids start screaming in a SCHOOL, which would alert others to whats going on. Which would prevent you from getting the surprise on soooo many people like you believe you could.
You get charged by one person, you might be able to get them. But everyone else in the hallway is getting away.
    You're not usain bolt.
My freshman year in high school I had a PR of under 11s 100m.
If you know anything about track, that's far from a star. That's an average track athlete in Oregon.

But it's okay. I understand you think this is you.
While everyone on this board who doesn't think they're immortal is having the same reaction as Jasmine.

that's if it's a one on one threat....if I'm a teacher or on a subway and there's a knife attack...I'd do whatever it took to save my students lives..harms way...not ideal to have to fight period, but when there's little choice...you do what you can

    Hmm, 3 people.
That's about on par with what I said.
2-3 people before you are mostlikely unable to do more damage due to people starting to be aware of whats going on.
Where as you can be aware that someone is shooting up a school, but there aint shit you can do to get away from a bullet.

Don't worry though. @Nate is going to chase everyone down when he attacks a school and get all those kids.
His body count will be in the thousands. He's soooo efficient with a knife.

Yeah, I respect you for that. I believe you would. You sound like you have the training to be confident enough to engage, while most would only get them selves hurt.

key point: nobody is saying knives aren't dangerous. so stop with the 'yeah but they can slash a throat'. We get it. Knives = bad.

But a kid walks into a school with an AR15 or whatever thing they have and start firing vs. a knife. The fact this is a debate is unreal.

Just like they were with a school shooting.
But there were still people who laid down their lives for others.
A kid held a door so others could get out.
A teacher and a coach saved kids.
Give me a break, if you really think no one would act on a fucking stabbing suspect.
Then you are pretty delusional, or trolling.

The mass stabbings in schools worldwide often include 20+ victims and 5+ murdered.

Whatever you're arguing doesn't fit what actually happens.

How about we do the obvious and prevent kids from walking into schools with guns and knives and flamethrowers?

If Disneyland can do it without freaking the parents and kids out, the schools can too.

The fact that this is a debate is unreal and speaks to poor judgement and ideas.

Sorry if the facts get in your way.

You imagine things. In real life they don't turn out the way you imagine.

    Tough shit.
