It is suppose to be more comfortable than the old ones. It is suppose to make their shots better. I hope it does
It's also supposed to be more consistent than the old ball. So when you go from venue to venue the ball is the same at each venue instead of bouncing slightly different at each venue. I think this is my favourite point of the ball if I were a NBA player.
I don't know if I like this one. The league has changed up so much from the 80's it's sickening. First they impliment the zone, then the dotted line for charges, then take away the stiff arm for D. The game is looking more like the WNBA. Just when it couldn't get any worse, they change the damn ball I hope we go back to the old rules some day.
the new ball is said to be easier to grip and handle when its wet when people sweat it wont be too slippery

I'd like to buy one but $100 is too much for a ball. I'm hoping one of my friends gets it so that I can check it out and see how much more "comfortable" it really is.
Not sure if this had been already said, but... As a shooter, this would suck, the seams of the ball don't go all the way to the end, the whole point of having seams is to setup with one hand going to the end, where the seams of the ball come together, and then another hand around the middle of the ball...Ah...I wonder if the price of the old official NBA ball is going to decrease though, that would be cool...
It's nice to get the index finger on a seam, but it doesn't always happen when taking a quick shot. In the end, you can't worry about it. I use to play with a kid in high school who would look down at the ball everytime to make sure his hand was set up the way he wanted. LOL! I loved guarding him! Look at Dirk, even on the free throw line he doesn't even get the ball with the laces set up. So on this new ball the laces don't go all the way around, no biggie.
