I think there is very little difference. A kid from art school could have done this and saved Allen a fortune on graphics fees. Tilt the pinwheel ,insert a basketball and make the lines tubular.
So they're going to start using the outline of the pinwheel, and filling it with "stuff"? Endless possibilities, I suppose. You could even put a picture of yourself in the outline to show the depths of your fandom.
I seem to be in the minority, but I don't particularly care for it. At least, not dominating the front of a t-shirt.
The Blazers release lots of variations or themes on the logo on t-shirts. I don't think this is an official anything.
Do you guys realize how small that basketball would be in the middle of the pinwheel? When it's used for smaller print or especially on merchandise it probably wouldn't show up unless the pinwheel was massively redone to accommodate it.
Yeah, I don't get the desire for a basketball in a team logo. Anyone who cares about the team knows that they're a basketball team. Now, a screaming skull to indicate how hardcore the Blazers are...that's a different story.
We could put a basketball around the pinwheel like the black parallelogram of death. Then put some rain drops and a hippie smoking out of a bong so that people know what sport we play and where we play it.
I agree that the team should not dumb down its trademark by pointing out that the Blazers are a basketball team, either graphically or in words. Unless it's "Big Blazers Basketball Brand". That would be cool. (not)
Hankins says in this video, concerning fan input, that Blazer fans have more of a fondness for the '90's logo than the original '70's logo... That tells me that the Blazer organization IS NOT listening to fan input concerning anything!
