Let the calf grow into a cow. Let the bacon sizzle. Don't mow the seeds, mow the grass. Don't drink 10-year Scotch when it's 5-years old. Let the beer ferment.
Can sign Rachel Ray - who according to the game programs is Brandon's favorite - and replace that silly "rise with us" to "bake with us" (they are both the same, if I understand something about baking - and I am not an expert by any means), but the 2nd is less obtuse. So, "Bake with us" it is. (Either that or "let the Fondu melt" - but people do not seem to appreciate it).
Time to decorate the cake - with playoffs, baby! (append photo of decorated cake - unfortunately mine are all at home and I'm at work)
I remember those days Dunleavy in the huddle: "Hey Sheed if Damon throws you a lob do you think you could dunk over Shaq? Sheed: "Ya I would have to be pretty high though!" Dunleavy: "I bet you would Panama Red.
When someone on the current roster retires, IMO. This is a Dynasty as is once these youngun's get a year or 2 experience playing together, and playing a certain style together. As long as you continually change things we would have been better of with the JailBlazers squad. We made the sacrifices, now we need patience.
I like how everyone says no changes, bake the shit, etc. How many were yelling that when Jack was traded on draft day? How many were yelling that when we didn't re-sign James Jones? How many were yelling that when we elected to bring Rudy and Batum over? Fact is, we had great chemistry on our team last year. This year, we have 5 new players on the roster, 1 starting, and one playing a lot of minutes and guess what? Still great chemistry. Funny how that works. We already played around with the batter. The fucking cake analogy is no good anymore. We have a smart GM who keeps character and fit in mind when making trades, and he isn't going to trade just to trade, but he also isn't just going to sit on his hands because he thinks we have a dynatsy.
Who are these people who don't want to improve this team? Garbage. Until they win 10 championships in 11 years we ALL want to improve this team. We differ on how to get there. Let the players develop and grow together, then decide what if any fixes are needed? Or trade for a 30 something star in hopes of getting a few more wins now? I for sure don't want "trades in general". I want trades that work toward the eventual goal of helping the young talent become a championship team.
Again I will ask the original question. How long to wait crandc? A few more wins now by the way get us into the playoffs, or home court if we start to play better. A few more wins help our young guys learn how to play in the playoffs, and how to play on the floor by learning from the veterans
RR7, the things you mentioned are valid, except... they were done in the OFF season. Every one. The cost was also very minimal. If you are making a change in the middle of the season (of any type of significance) you are desparately rolling the dice. It didn't help Dallas or Phoenix last year.
I think you need to have a plan B for the trade. For example, a lot of people here seem to like Steve Nash. If a deal went down to get him and it didn't make Portland one of the elite teams in the west then KP should be thinking about when trading for him making sure he is trading away salary as well because Nash is a FA next season and then at worst KP has cleared cap space to sign someone.
I understand they happened in the offseason, and I am not begging for just any trade. But a trade is a trade, and we came into this season with 1/3rd of our roster new additions from last year, but people were using the same cake baking slogan last year, and the point is, we swapped out a third of the ingredients in the cake, but everyone still hammers along the same mantra of NO TRADES! And I am just curious if those same people are still upset ovwer the deals and overhaul we made in the offseason, and if it has had a serious negative effect on the team. Because there are a few who think that any trade is all of a sudden going to kill any chance we ever had of winning a title.
Same here. I think team improvement will come faster and last longer by sticking with this formula of bringing in young draft talent while the crop we have gets better and better. We got all this YOUNG talent for a specific reason. Dynasty. Bake it!
Do you honestly think that the team, as currently constructed, is unique in the history of the NBA and can win NBA championships without making any personnel moves? Ed O.
How about: quit crying, this is the 2nd youngest team in the league. Or maybe: stop whining, we're on pace for 49 wins...bitch. Something like that?
I love Steve Nash. But he's already showing signs of breaking down. By the time Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Sergio, Rudy, hit their prime in 2-3 years he'd be gone. So which of the Blazers' top talents should they trade for him? That's what I meant by get a few more wins this year or go for a bunch of titles in 2-3 years. How about trusting KP? The team improved, dramatically, every year since he's been GM. He's not made a bad move yet. Even those that were panned - drafting Roy, trading Zach Randolph, Telfair, Monia, Khryapa, drafting Rudy et al- were any of them bad? Here's to the new slogan:
