    As a Dem, the one that I fear gets the nom is Romney. He might be able to win in a general, at least it's a close call. Any of the others get their asses handed to them. And if Romney wins, and he then goes againt Obama, it's not that bad. Either he wins or loses. If he loses, a Dem stays in power. And if he wins, a moderate takes power. Not that bad. I really only fear the extreems getting in.

    No, that 21% may include staunch Romney supporters but that wasn't the question. These 21% merely aren't sure who will win which has nothing to do with who they are supporting.

    A right wing whacko wouldn't have made education a top priority in his first 100 days.

    He and his father are the only two republicans since Lincoln to be president at the start of a war.

    His father was a moderate, too. First two things he passed were a clean air act and citizens with disabilities act. He called Reaganomics "voodoo" then hiked taxes and presided over a deep enough recession he wasn't reelected.

    Gingrich can't win, but he's easily the smartest, most concise, and wonkiest of any candidate in the GOP field, and he'd debate circles around Obama as well. I think he just has too much personal baggage to win the GOP nomination, though.

    I think a wet paper bag could beat Obama by next fall, FWIW. Blaming everybody but himself isn't going work this time.
