I just hate how the media will make this a Vince vs. Raptors thing. I could do without all this media hype crap.

Having to play NJ in the first round is a BLESSING in disguise..
    1. Wizards will present no and i mean NO competition for us in the first round. Will be an easy series, and if you ask me, its not really too good going into the second round with just less competition in the first round...
    2. NJ will provide the necessary competition that will give the raps extra boost for the second round... We start off the playoffs with a good opponent, this will change the mindset and mentality of the raps immediately, it will increase the intensity and the raps will be in a better shape going into second round.....

    prediction:
raps win the first two at home, 2-0
split the series in Jersey ........ 3-1
then come back home and ice it.......... 4-1
so i say Raps win in game 5.

I think New Jersey is the worst opponent we could face out of
    Orlando, Washington, New Jersey, Pacers.

However compared to Chicago, Heat, or Cavs obviously I'd take the Nets over them.

I think unless Parker and Mo Pete can step up on defense, so we don't have to double team a SG and Rasho bringing good help side defense and not give him AND1s so he doesn't want to attack the basket, then we will do better.

So it's VC and the Nets vs. Bosh and the Raptors. Hopefully the Raptors get the last laugh.

I hope after this series we can push Carter to the background forever. I'm tired of the casual puck-head fan in Toronto showing up at the ACC and chanting "Carter sucks" while the raptors are shooting free throws.

In any case we can't discount that the Nets have been playing really well as of late and they have all of their big 3 back. The key to this series (to me at least) is definitely our front court. If we can box out and keep NJ's hustle players off the boards we should win.

Size note on this one: Lawrence Frank was rumored privately to have called Sam Mitchell the "worst coach in the league" at some point last year. We'll see how well he performs against him now.

Do you have a link? or just even just some more information? Seems like a classless thing to do by Lawrence Frank. I always though that guy was little rat.

I bet the Bulls are kicking themselves for not winning the last game against the Nets.. Now they face the Heat.. which makes it harder for them to advance into the 2nd round.

Yea that is really strange, I would expect Chicago to have played their asses off to avoid playing Miami instead of a Washington team without Arenas.

Ben Wallace was benched with 6 minutes (I think?) left in the game seemed weird too, b/c the Bulls were behind by 10 or 8 pts.

I don't actually. This was sometime last year and apparently the motivation was that Mitchell "blew" an end of game play call then went on TV after and blamed the players. I saw it written about it some article, espn.com maybe.

I think I remember the article you're talking about, but I read it a long time ago. It was something like, Frank made an adjustment (defensive I think) and Sam Mitchell didn't realize it, watched his team mess up, and blamed his players afterwards. But Frank and his coaching staff were apparently laughing while this was happening or something.

    Series predictions?

I'll take the raptors in 6. Front court will be key.

I got the Raps in 6 too. Anthony Parker is being terribly underrated by the American media. I think he's going to be the best player in this series.

This isn't to say I'm going on the "we're the best!'" rant but no one seems to have a lot of faith in us for this series. Something like 4 out of 5 of the analysts at espn.com picked the Nets to win this series despite the fact we are playing at home.

I think half the guys who write should just come out and say they haven't watched a whole raptors game this year aside from highlights. It's sad but true.

Word. I've heard so many people talk about Mo-Pete's potential impact on this series. No offense to Mo, because I wish he would get more minutes, but he's averaging like 10 mpg at the best of times. Very few people have bothered to check up on the the international players on our roster.

The other thing that's annoyed me about the media coverage is the way they portray Carter's departure. In Canada, the dude's vilified to a ridiculous extent, while in the US no one has mentioned that he gave up on the team. They talk about it like the Raps just decided to move in another direction.

I've got Raptors in 5. Basically the same order thats boshbosh said. Parker does very well against Vince, especially our last game against the Nets. He made Vince a perimeter shooter and he just wasn't making his shots. We also have Mo-pete who pretty much knows Vince's moves.

Kidd is also getting older and with young guys like Ford and Calderon on him, he'll be getting tired easily. And I don't think Marcus Williams can handle them either. All our games against NJ this year, Calderon kept driving it for the lay-in or getting fouled especially when Marcus was on him.

Also without Krstic, I don't think Miki Moore or Collins can keep up with Bosh. Our only slight worry would be Jefferson who can also light it up. But I think he's still feeling the effects of his injury. We'll see how the fair out tomorrow.

Great points. It also makes sense that Calderon will continue to take it to the basket because NJ's front court isn't exactly intimidating.
