Yeah, Radiohead isn't for everyone. I didn't list them because nothing you listed in your opening post suggested you'd enjoy Radiohead. Another possibility, since you like some pop-influenced hip-hop, is M.I.A. Here's a song of her's:
may I suggest Portland's own Yacht? (who honestly I don't like, but just to keep with the boat theme...)
as fuck. The self titled is one of the greatest albums of all time. For the original poster try: Blitzen Trapper - fur Glasvegas - selftitled Elbow - seldom seen kid vampire weekend (already mentioned) The new Morrissey is immense Kills - midnight boom (already mentioned) Last Shadow Puppets Kings of Leaon (already mentioned) I love these kinds of threads
I've been enjoying Los Campesinos! lately (be patient, the song eventually starts around 1:20 or so)
Kyuss, QOTSA, Monster Magnet, Leahy, Suicidal Tendencies, Judas Priest, Sanctuary, Anvil, The Pogues, Every Scorpions album except for Lonesome Crow and anything including or after Acoustica, Knockout John, The Flow, Victims of Internal Decay, Sullen, Too Much Joy, Gravedigger, SGM, AMQA, etc.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner...try some Son House and Elvis too Here's some ppl I've been listening to lately, not sure what you listen to: hip hop/rap: Asher Roth 3Oh!3 Hollywood Undead Snowgoons One Block Radius Different types Rock: The Killers (listed numerous times already) TV/TV (Pop) TV on the Radio (bluesy soul roots rock) Danger Radio (Pop) Family Force 5 (Dancy Crunk meets rock? Hard to explain but they're pretty cool) Franz Ferdinand (Euro type rock) Mando Diao (Euro type rock) Bayside (Garage/early punk guitar) Ace Enders (Mellow Alternative rock) - I think his band was "The Early November" The Faint (synthesizer rock) Innerpartysystem (synthesizer rock) The Raconteurs (Has the White Stripes guitarist)
The White Stripes + The Black Keys = a blues rock piano Both are pretty good bands if one likes blues rock. The Little Killers are also good. For anyone who likes The Killers, I'd highly recommend The Strokes. Both are guitar pop, but while I like The Killers, I think The Strokes are even better. Especially their first two albums, Is This It and Room On Fire.
I like that one. The xylophone is a highly under-utilized instrument in rock music. (But then I always liked Jethro Tull's ability to somehow make a flute rock. Or the White Stripes' ability to jam with nothing but a drum and a piano.) The wife will like the cockney accent. She digs The Streets, which I find pretty annoying after about five minutes. Sounds like a drunk yob rambling to random music after a football match.
I've been listening to the Pixies non-stop lately. You might already be familiar with them but I just recently really got into them after only hearing a few of their more popular songs. They are truly amazing.
The Pixies are one of the greatest bands ever. I had a phase, also, where I listened to them non-stop.
