Ive always thought in many cases there is a fine line between and cop and criminal. And the same could be said for all people too, I guess.

Protesting the Anthem, and being able to do so, are as AMERICAN as anything can be. Protesting your nation's anthem in many other parts of the world, could get you punished in any number of ways that are not too savory.

You know nothing about racial bigotry if that's the worst you've been exposed to. Let me tell you about Missouri, Georgia and Alabama, all firmly Republican, and their views on racial equality. They have no rules on racial equality except that no jury will convict a white man of assaulting an African-American. I've lived in those states and was born in one of them.

As for the few Left leaning racial bigots, they are few and far between compared with the other side of the fence. However, you'll find racial bigots everywhere and African-Americans are always at the bottom of the pile.

Had Trump not made a big deal out of it, no one would have said much about any NFL players exercising their right to free speech by taking a knee during the National Anthem. They even made a point out of the fact that according to their statements the knee had nothing to do with not loving our country or Constitution. It had to do with so many police not respecting African-Americans which we see examples of every day.

Good point, and as many of you know, I'm not only a combat Veteran but 100% disabled as a result.

My preference is to retain the Anthem, which I love, but to not make a big deal out of others who choose to take a knee, which I respect. It's not like they're turning their backs on the flag, for crying out loud. Just let it go and chalk it up to Americans exercising their quiet way of expressing free speech.

What the hell is the big deal?

It took me just a few seconds to remember a story about a white man in Alabama who was executed for killing a black man

    Oh I just remembered!!!!!!!

Y'all didn't say SHIT when Tebow kneeled DURING the anthem!

He was doing it to protest abortion remember????

"But that's different" is what snopes says in a whiny ass voice....

And if you plan on trotting out that snopes bullshit I've already got you covered:

"Fans may, of course, disagree over how these two quarterbacks’ extracurricular displays on the football field have been (or should have been) received by the public and by NFL officials, but the two cases had significant distinctions; they weren’t equivalent actions that were hypocritically regarded in very different ways by different groups:

Tim Tebow and Colin Kaepernick are both famous for kneeling during football games, but in dramatically different contexts.

Regardless of whether you’re more supportive of Kaepernick or Tebow, it’s pretty misleading to compare society’s reaction to either player without noting they kneeled in completely different contexts. If Tebow had taken to kneeling during the national anthem as a form of political protest, and especially as a form of protest against police officers, it’s not a stretch at all to say people would have been upset with him as well.

That one player kneeled in prayer without the intentions of making an overt political statement while the other kneeled during the national anthem for an expressly political purpose is obviously an important detail to note when analyzing the public’s responses to both."

    This... ^^^^^ Is utter bullshit.

Please find ONE credible source that says Tebow knelt to protest abortion.

And how do you "already have us covered" when you don't type that snopes claims it's false

The NFL just said in no uncertain terms that they don't give a fuck about black people's right to free speech.

My Eagles just won. I've got what I needed. Until they change this bullshit policy, I'll be boycotting.

Doesn’t the NBA have essentially the same anthem policy? I guess you won’t be watching basketball anymore either?

It’s a business... they put a rule in to protect their business that ultimately pays the players... ratings were way down, so they came up with a fair compromise, which is the same policy as in NBA... if I protested at work I’d be fired... why should athletes have special rights... there are many other platforms they have available to them to protest... I go to sporting events to escape... it’s not a place for politics...

Show me one. Tebow says he is praying. Kaep says he's protesting. I'll believe the actual people involved.

Until you can show me somewhere where Tebow says he did it as a protest, you are making shit up

This last sentence is utter bullshit. What would you say about McCain calling it "Paid Patriotism"?

2nd, the NFL is now losing my money. I plan on cancelling anything and everything NFL.

You know, you seem to be a glass half empty type of guy... always looking at the negative things in life... you are not the only one who has obstacles to overcome in life... you think everyone else has such an easy life, you don’t even know man... I choose to look at the good things instead and have gratitude...

Was going to bring up Tebow but dviss beat me to it.

Funny. We heard that fascists need to be able to speak on college campuses because colleges should not be safe places. Men should be allowed to sexually harass because jobs can't be safe spaces. But Black athletes can't silently peacefully protest because football games need to be safe spaces for white racists.

You have no clue about Dviss as a person, so quit making assumptions. If I was to make assumptions about you, I'd think you're angry all the time. But I don't.

So quit assassinating the character of someone you don't know.
