Sluggish play and low scores prompt coach Maurice Cheeks to turn to a motion offense that he used with success last spring

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The motion offense, or "passing game" as Cheeks calls it, is predicated on all five players moving during the course of the play, and it features less structure and more opportunities for every player to touch, and thus pass, the ball.

"It's just movement," Cheeks said. "You move, you pass, and you make cuts to the basket. The ball can end up in anyone's hands. We have been standing around too much, obviously. We have just been real stagnant, with no movement at all."

The move comes on the heels of Sunday's 78-72 loss to Golden State and Friday's 85-78 win over Houston. The 72 points against Golden State were a season low, and the win over Houston came despite 34.1 percent shooting. The two-game total of 157 points is the second-lowest in Cheeks' two-plus seasons.

Hopefully this will work, and we'll play more smoothly on the offensive end. Great clutch shooting thus far, but it doesn't compensate for the excessive scoring droughts that we've had.
