Kyle O'Quinn if he somehow get the mimum. I'm fine rolling with Meyers, Collins, Skal at center until Nurk returns. Harkless, Mario, Jake, Little at PF. Wings are nearly impossible to find, glad that was 100% of our focus. We can sign plenty of vet min options and cut Skal or whatever if needed during the season. The game has changed and mediocre bugs aren't important as they were 10 years ago. I think many are worrying way too much about bigs. DameCJ make centers look amazing. Lopez, Plumlee, Davis, Nurk, Kanter, Collins, hell even Meyers looked great in the playoffs. Our bigs will be fine. If we get 2-3 wings to play well and Ant takes the step up we hope, that is what will determine our success. Not signing some mediocre center or an injured Cousins.
So new roster Nurk Whiteside Collins Skal Hezonja Little Bazemore Hood Trent CJ Lillard Simons Am I missing someone? Dire need of some bigs
Look at the Warriors ...a finals team losing their best player...and Raps probably losing the other best player...it's the weirdest offseason I can remember...
I've said it before. All fans can ask of a team is them trying to get better. This could fail miserably, but there is no more status quo
On the surface, yes. However, it was really that we couldn't afford them, not that they didn't want to stay. Turner was never a good fit and most agreed neither was MyLe. The cost to get rid of Leonard was Harkless. Curry wanted a bigger role than we could give him. Aminu cost too much for what we wanted from him. Finally, we had to choose between Hood or Kanter. With the Whiteside deal available, we went with Hood. I would argue of the six that left, five would have preferred to stay (Curry being the exception).
It is very weird....but oddly satisfying. Aminu - specifically left open in opponent's teams game plans. Harkless - admittedly struggled with consistently being 'checked in'. Kantor - Terror on the offensive glass....terrified no one on the defensive end. Turner - one of the worst 3-pt shooters in recent Blazer history and could always be counted on for a key Turnerover. Curry - The highest percentage shooter....that rarely shot. Leonard - teased you with high efficiency shooting.....that rarely offset the other issues. Who was brought in covers a multitude of areas of weaknesses even though there are more to deal with. I'll take the better shooting, the legit gap filler for Nurkic, the defensive flexibility and the oozing potential of the youth over the players that left any day.
Wouldn't be surprised if they pick one up. Just Ant as the only back up PG seems awfully thin. Thought Frazier might be a possibility of a reunion but he just joined the lowly Pistons.
It has been fun watching all this action the last couple of days, but I still haven't seen how we fixed our outside shooting issue? I know there is addition by subtraction with Aminu and Harkless gone and Bazemore in, but not one of these guys added are a true open threat.
I imagine we are going to go small with our 2nd unit more often than not. I think we were effective in the post season with zach at C and hood playing the 4, and I bet we get a healthy dose of lineups like that this season. I still think we need another 4 and 5, and I imagine a lot of those guys are waiting for the kawhi show to drop. Until that time, we'll be holding
