Does anyone have the inside scoop on the Cowboys looking to build a new stadium? I hear that they are looking to build one with a retractable roof and actually located in Dallas. Anything to any of that? How do you Cowboy fans feel about paying for the darn thing? Word is that if it goes to the ballot, it will be this November... If you want that to pass, the 'Boys had better get off to a fast start.
Jerry's vision is not only to have a new stadium for football, but he also wants to be a part of any bigger events....Superbowl....Final Four.....National Rodeo Finals...whatever would come up. His design is to have retractable roof and a retractable end zone that will add more seating when necessary. This stadium is part of a new area that will include new practice facilities, a hotel, and several businesses. The stadium is actually just a relatively small part of the whole project. We'll see who passes it and who gets it.
Sounds like a beautiful facility, but if it came up on my ballot I'd have no trouble deciding how to vote...

Jerry is willing to put his money into it too, so it depends on how much finally gets put on the taxpayers ballot, and how much benefit the city will get back aside from the stadium. Hotel taxes can bring some revenue, and I am sure the Cowboys do too. Texas Stadium is now like 33 years old. This puts it on the older end compared to other NFL stadiums. They do need to change. I expect Jerry will get this OK'd somewhere.
When I went to the superbowl this year it was my first time in Texas. We did it kind of last minute and flew down there without tickets. So since flying into houston was out of the question my father and I flew into Dallas/FT Worth and drove a rental from there to the house we were staying at just outside of houston. Let me just say that airport was as big as some towns in Mass. I got to see Texas Stadium on the way and was shocked to see the shape it was in. I always just pictured it to be a better looking stadium I guess. I'm sure a New stadium would be great for the Cowboys and it is as big as you guys are saying I'm sure it would bring more tourists in than it already does. It must be nice to have all that land down in texas to use and make eveything big and comfortable. Reliant Stadium was Huge and they didn't have to get rid of the Astrodome to build it which is amazing because in Mass you'd have to make a whole neiborhood homeless to put something that size up. We have rusted old Fenway which is by far the worst for comfort and one of best as far as a historical place to watch a game. They need a new park bad but because of the lack of a place to put it we probably will never see a new park.

I will have to say that I am from Iowa....and trust me....we have more than enough room here too. I've sent letters and letters to Jerry, but for some reason, he won't relocate here. Go figure...
The Iowa Cowboys.....Just doesn't have the same ring to it. I didn't realize you weren't from TX. I probably should have just read it on your posts. haha The size of everything down there was amazing just cus I'm used to everything being crammed into one place.
Just a misplaced 6-year old bandwaggoner from the mid 70s. Of course, I don't vote for the Iowa Cornstalks either. I've been to TX many times....and I agree. Everything is big. I could drive from Iowa to the Texas border, and still only be halfway to Mexico.

It sounds to be like Jerry is copying the jets plan to build on the West side of Manhattan (which I think is a good idea) & then taking the NYC plan & making it Texas sized.
Actually, this has been in the works for a couple years now. I think I saw the plans before last season. But you are probably still right regarding the "visions"
