In a weird sort of way, there's a bright side if Seattle signs Tanaka, at least we won't have to hear crybabies like Mike (the weasel) Lupica complaining about the Yankees spending big money "trying to buy a championship" as if they're the only team giving huge contracts in same"cycle''. Until further notice - it'll be the Yankees, DODGERS and the MARINERS in that category. Hey Lupica - up yer nose with a rubber hose If Tanaka doesn't sign with the Yankees, so be it. We move on. GO YANKS p.s. if Arizona does sign Tanaka, I think they'll either win the division or come very close.
The funny thing is: even if SEA does sign Tanaka to a 25M a year deal like Felix, that brings their payroll to 109M. IIRC, that'd be around 20th in the league. And all due respect to Lupica, but no one sorts pennants by values of contracts given out the previous winter.
