So only 2 months after McMillan stated the team's plan (which was created from input from coaches, GM, and especially trainers), Oden has already fallen behind by a month. I think the cause is that they let him do nothing for so long (lying around at his mom's house in the Midwest, no cable to watch basketball, shamed into coming to Oregon only for the last playoff game). For 3 years I've wondered why he didn't want to stay with the team more, and why Pritchard didn't make him do so. He would recover faster each time if he would put in even the slightest effort. Critics from other teams say he lacks ambition and work ethic. I already thought Pritchard lacked those, so maybe Oden just needs a GM who will demand an attitude change.
I don't see where he's a month behind. I also haven't seen critics from other teams say he lacks ambition and work ethic. From boards sure, maybe a writer, but not from other teams. He did travel with the team his rookie year and was at games last year, but usually was in the locker room because sitting in the second row with his knee bent caused pain. This is just being blown out of proportion. I read Cho say Oden is jogging so how is he behind schedule? Who says he should be doing different than what he is doing right now? From what Cho said he's progressing just like he should. Try reading the last sentence in that article. He's going to be in training camp, the only thing that I see Cho said was he might not be ready for the opener, they'd wait and see and not committ to that which is great considering how some people would jump on Cho and use it for ammo that something is wrong considering people are doing it when nothing seems to be any different meaning Oden is progressing as he should.
It couldn't be more clear. The excerpt I gave says he was supposed to start running mid-July (a month and a week ago) but is unable to run fast (full-speed) as of right now. Your eyes must hurt from overrolling. I don't know what's hilarious about his lack of ambition. In the next few months, Cho must estimate how much he's worth, whether to extend, and Allen must review. Oden must then sit up on his mom's sofa to read the offer before reclining again. We won't want to hurry him during his next recovery.
