<div class="quote_poster">Quoting KS1:</div><div class="quote_post">How come they don't let him play both?</div> There are a lot of reasons... 1) Being a QB requires the utmost attention because a lot of time is devoted to studying playbooks and tapes 2) An NFL Quarterback makes a ton of money...An NFL point guard makes a ton of money....neither franchise wants to invest their money into a player only to see him get injured in another sport (i.e. Ronald Curry's sophomore year) 3) The NFL season overlapps a huge chunk of the NBA season...about 2 months 4) Charlie Ward was a great college QB, but he wasn't neccesarily a "great" NFL prospect.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting notMuchgame:</div><div class="quote_post">That's terrible...lol </div> whats terrible about iverson being good at football?...
Charlie Ward played football for the Seminoles and won the Heisman for the best football player in the NCAA. The reason why he didn't end up playing football is because he's way too small to player quarterback in the NFL. And if you look at the quarterbacks that have won the Heisman in the past few years, they have either been drafted in the late rounds or not drafted at all. There's a huge difference in playing quarterback in the NCAA and the NFL. Ward wouldn't have survived very long, there's not a starting quarterback of his staure in the NFL right now.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting pgrudo00:</div><div class="quote_post">I feel kinda stupid by including NHL in my thread topic because I cannot think of any NHL player playing basketball. Even my friends that are die hard NHL fans hate basketball. It's kinda weird to me, not sure why these two sports have totally different kinda fans. Anyone have a clue? </div> I love both basketball and hockey (although basketball more). That might due to me growing up in Canada and especially in Toronto but a couple of my friends are the same way. I think the difference in fans could be due in part to culture.
