I'm glad the Mara family stayed classy and gave coach the option to resign. All things run their course, coach just grew out of touch with the modern athlete. that said, today's athletes could use a heavy fucking dose of "old school".
Also with Coughlin making a lot of questionable calls this season I think the writing was on the wall.
I certainly feel like it was time for Tom Coughlin to go. I will never forget the two Super Bowls and what he did for the franchise. More over when you learn about him you would have a hard time finding a better man. He's a class act, I was proud to have him as coach of the Giants and I wish him the very best.
I am so glad he took the "right way" out. His resignation shows the real Tom Coughlin, a man of dignity and class. With all the lack of talent on this team, he tried mightily to keep continuity ever present. But the lack of talent won out.........for several seasons. And Jerry Reese is let off the hook. In my opinion, this is a big mistake. But, that's how things are done these days!
...not saying Coughlin is a bad person or anything but I gotta believe he met with the owners, who had already made up their mind and out of respect and appreciation, they simply gave Coughlin the opportunity/option to gracefully resign instead of being fired.
