...wow, I see Rainman is still at it. 1. He claimed several days ago that the Yanx will win "88-92 games". 2. Since then several people have said several times they cannot see the Yanx winning that many games.. 3. "90+" games has been used as the basis of this debate ever since it began and he never once disputed that number, not once...until now. 4. Now several days later he is backing off his prediction and now claims words are being put in his mouth and that he never said or implied "90+ games". ...now, can someone explain to me how saying the Yanx could win as many as "92 games" is not the same as saying they could win "90+" games?
You can easily look it up from previous posts - I have said I think the Yanks will win approx- approx 90 games.....and on one occasion I mentioned "approx 90" wins give or take a couple which could ALSO mean (obviously to those who know what approximately means) could also mean anywhere from 88,89-90 wins, and YES,I have also said on one occasion if things break right they could win a couple more than 90. As of now, I say they win APPROXIMATELY 90 games....live with it. Now stop playing your cheesy straw-man semantic games in an effort to discredit me.
This is a post of mine (#8) from the "less than 40 days" thread: ___________________________ ↑ I don't see it being much better but one has to believe that CC, Beltran & McCann will have better seasons & that there's really no where for Teixeira to go but up. They won 84 games last - they'll win approx 90 this year......could be higher, could be lower IF THEY SUFFER ALOT OF INJURIES. Unfortunately, I can't say if it will or won't be good enough for a playoff spot. Feel better? blgridesagain, Jan 15, 2015 ___________________ There ya go....I own up to it and stand by it. Approx 90 wins!!!!!
Is 91 = to approx. 90? How about 92 = approx. 90? If yes, than approx. Does imply 90+. Try this: 89.5 wins, over or under?
...first off, you don't me to "discredit you"...you're doing a good enough job of that on your own. ...secondly, you need to learn the definition of the term "strawman" and its proper uses. And there's no "semantics" either. I'm going by your own words. ...and thirdly, are you denying that you did in fact claim the Yanx could win as many as "92 games"? (I'll gladly link the post/thread if you'd like)...Are you denying that it is the same as saying they could win "90+ games"?....yes or no will do. If yes, conversation over....if no, please explain how 92 games is not > greater than 90.
Holy shit, I just clarified and cleared up a couple things that should hopefully put an end to some of the bullsh!t I've been hearing from a couple of posters regarding my approx 90 win total I expect from the 2015 Yanks. And check the date from that post (post 8)January 15! I believe that thread was started by Rick, and you can review it from post # 86 of this thread
I played with editing some old posts in non active threads. There is no notation on the lower right that I edited that post. Curious, huh?
From your post# 90 "are you denying that you did in fact claim the Yanx could win as many as "92 games"? (I'll gladly link the post/thread if you'd like)...Are you denying that it is the same as saying they could win "90+ games"?....yes or no will do. If yes, conversation over....if no, please explain how 92 games is not > greater than 90." _____________________________ I only mentioned the possibly of the Yanks winning more than 90 games if most things broke right. If you want to define approx 90 wins as somewhere between 89-91 be my guest...no sweat off my ass. Why don't you stop being a silly petty man. And YOU, amoung the millions lol of baseball fans who picked them to win "approx" 82 games just may find out that there are only a few very bright lights amoung the multitudes of common mediocrity.
...lol... you, of all people, have got a lot of gall calling me "petty". I'm not "defining" anything...I'm going by your own words. ...but I'm not surprised that you refused to answer a simple "yes or no" as clearly requested...very telling. ...Sorry that you evidently cannot remember what you have actually said, but you did not originally stipulate in your original claim of a possible "92" wins was predicated on "most things going right"... you've since backtracked on your original claim and have looked very silly in doing so...your problem, not mine. ...and if you still insist on claiming otherwise, well, among other things, you're also a liar.
