According to hoopshype Kobe repeatly said this to the girl

" No one will believe you over me"

interesting to say the least...but the latest info suggest this

    http://www.msnbc.com/news/980367.asp?0cv=CA01

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Last week, the hearing began with graphic testimony from Winters, who said Bryant attacked the woman from behind and raped her.

The defense then suggested in open court that the accuser may have had sex with other men in the days before the June 30 hotel room encounter with Bryant. Prosecutors responded by asking for the hearing to be closed - a requested ridiculed by the defense in Wednesday’s court filing.

There is already a thread for this, this thread is about the shoes case.

Anyways, it's not 100% sure if Nike dropped him or not. If they did, he should sign with Reebok, they have a markatable franchise, though one not to suit his "goody boy" image, but with these accusations who knows. He has inked on a few tatoos, is wearing chains, urban clothing, etc. We might be seeing a new Kobe, if so then Reebok is the place for him. I don't think And 1 is a good fit, And 1 has lost all their markatable superstars, Kevin and Sprewell among others. They have shown that they cannot market a shoe for a superstar type player. Plus, all their products look alike, have the same design, and concept in mind. Todays superstars look for something out of the ordinary, we have seen this with the likes Of Iverson and McGrady. Kobe also with his Adidas line, I'm sure he wants to continue this, so it is obsurd to say that And 1 is a good fit for him.

I think it would be stupid for Kobe to change his "image". People these days put too much emphasis on that crap. Just play basketball and be respectful to your wife and you'll get the respect you deserve.

    Only my opinion.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting :</div><div class="quote_post">Bryant's settled for a $1.5 million buyout, reporter Gina DeFranco told Los Angeles KIIS-FM host Rick Dees yesterday.</div>
The buyout would be more than 1.5 million. Buyouts are at least half, meaning it would be at least 18/20 million. So far this appears to be false but my guess is something is in the works to drop him.

If this is true, I havent seen any official press releases from Nike yet, this will hurt Kobe's image. I have to agree with Nike on this. They did this as a pure business move. They want a good, honest, family man as their spokesperson/models. They want someone with high morals and ethics that will represent their product well. Whether he is found guilty or not is not a factor here. The reason behind this is because he committed adultery and he openly admitted to it. Just from that, the good boy image he use to have is gone, forever. Because he committed adultery, he is no longer that great, honest family man with high morals and eithics. that Nike wants modeling their products. I mean really, what company wants to be known as a company that endorses/sponsors someone who committed adultery?

Hes not gone yet. Sportscenter said buyouts are half of the contract and the story has said 1.5 million. Which means so far, its not true.

Nike hasn't made plans for ordering the shoes. They are supposed to take place 6 months before their release which hasnt taken place. Things dont look good for Kobe, but hes still a part of Nike family (for now)

Hmm now this is spreading down the grapevine...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">On MSNBC yesterday, Lester Holt cited sources from Nike stating that the relationship between Kobe and Nike is unchanged and buyout rumors are completely false. Please quit with the rumor spreading. </div>http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.p...orum=1&start=30

I'm still searching for published confirmation on this though.

How about Nike? See how soon you forget Michael Jordan cheated on his wife? And they support Jason Kidd, despite him beating his wife. The same will hold true for Kobe, people will forget or forgive him in time.

But rape is a very different story, if indeed he is found guilty.

"Adultery" is often misspelled "adultry," as if it were something every adult should try.
